Who gets a grad announcement?

I was planning on sending out my graduation announcements this weekend but realized that I don't have very many people to send them to. I have no living uncles or aunts, my brother lives around the corner, and I've already mailed one to the church. I may send them to my mothers friends but it feels a little strange. It's not like I'm graduating from high school. I'm not really close to DH's family other than his mother...Who would you send them to?

Re: Who gets a grad announcement?

  • when i graduated undergrad i sent to all the extended family...great aunts, cousins, old high school teachers, some of dh's family, my church back home, etc. I'm from a really small town and that's just how everyone does it. They like to know your business. haha...

it is an announcement...so anyone from your life that you'd think would like to know you're graduating with a master's..send it.and if that's only a handful of people, that's fine

but I'm no ettiquette queen, so don't go on my word alone

  • When I graduated from college/graduate school we sent them primarily to family, extended family (including second cousins, great aunt and uncles, etc.) I would definitely also send them to DH's family since they are family now too.

  • I don't think I sent them out for grad school.  But that's just me.  While I was proud of myself and my parents were too, we had done all that for undergrad and just didn't do all that again.
