Thank you so much Ladies! From the new mom!!!

I'm just exhausted but finally getting on a minute to say hi.  And thanks Tonya so much for posting!  We're doing really well.  Been to overwhelmed to download photos but promise to do it soon.  We're struggling with breastfeeding but saw a consultant today and getting on track.  Not sure if we post birthstories here but here's mine if you're interested.  It was really an easy labor which I was not expecting....

Last Sunday night my contractions started and were about 15-20 minutes apart all night.  Towards the morning they were 8-9 minutes but when I finally got up they stopped.  I called my dr and he said it was normal and not the start of labor.  OK.  Cut to around 3 or 4pm and they started up again.  Plus I had back pain that felt like daggers stabbing me down the back.  Called  my dr again a little before 3 and again he said it was normal.  Fine.  By 6pm, my contractions were about 5-6 minutes apart and DH was like, we should just go to the hospital.  I'm still stalling bacause according to dr, I'm not in labor.  By 7pm I was bringing my bags to the door, I was in so much pain.

We arrive at about 7:30pm and I get assessed.  Contractions are now 4 min apart and I'm 4cm so they admit me and call my dr.  I immediately ask for the epi.  My plan was not to have it until 5-6cm but I had been having contractions for 24 hours now and I was done.  That was the best thing EVER!  Dr arrived around 9:30p and reiterates that I was not in active labor.  But I mean, really???  My contractions slowed down after the epi so he suggested to break my water which we did.  An hour later I was 5cm.  He then was concerned that my contractions were very irregular and not the normal pattern, that my AMA uterus might conk out before we can transition and wanted to try Pitocin which I was against from the get go.  But we decided that at a low dosage, let's see what happens.  He was going to assess me again at 2am, but at 12:30a he came in and said that they turned it down from 4 to 2 and then off because the baby's heartrate was dropping with each contraction.  He checked me again and I was 9cm!  That literally happened in less than an hour.  At 1:15am I was complete and I started pushing at 1:25a.  We also turned off the epi so I could feel the pushes.  About 10 contractions later, she was out!  It was so amazing.  And because he let me labor down, I had a tiny tear on the inside but nothing major and no need for an episiotomy.  And the amazing thing is, DH and I literally slept from the time I got the epi until I started pushing.  We watched a little Dancing with the Stars and then just napped.  Of course I was woken up more but DH was snorning away.

I feel totally fine today, just so tired.  She's the love of my life.  I'm finally a mom!   8 days late but worth the wait!
