So I'm in the kitchen when I hear this big crunch outside. I go to look out my window, and the across-the-street neighbor's little Acura is rear-end to rear-end with my next door neighbor's Escalade. The back of the Acura is moderately smashed, the Escalade is okay, and I wonder why the across-the-street neighbor had backed up so far.
But, there is no driver in the Acura. The Acura isn't even on. Apparently it decided that being parked in the driveway just wasn't interesting enough and rolled itself backward out into the street, across the street, and up into my next-door-neighbor's driveway --which is directly opposite-- and bang into the Escalade.
The kid next door went to let the across-the-street neighbor know what happened, and he came out looking so confused. I don't think it immediately registered that it was his car sitting unattended across the street. Nor do I think his wife looked very pleased when she pulled up a few minutes later while he was surveying the damage to the Acura (now safely in its own driveway, hopefully with the parking brake on!)
Crazy, huh?
