KC neighbourhood recommendations
I am relocating to KC and I wanted to get some real world opinions of the neighbourhoods I am looking at and thought maybe you all could help. DH will be working in Overland Park but I like old houses so I am looking on the MO side. The three houses I have found online (going first week in Dec to look) are in Sunset Hill, Romanelli Gardens, and Rockhill. The real estate agent tells me the neighbourhoods are nice but I want some real opinions.
Have you ever heard of these areas and if so are they nice to live in or not? TIA
Re: KC neighbourhood recommendations
Welcome to town!
I would say they are definately nice neighborhoods. Infact, very, very nice neighborhoods. If you want to live in an older home near the city, I would say these are some of the nicest neighborhoods you can choose from. Most homes are above the half million dollar range in all three. That sale price alone in a low cost of living town like Kansas City really says something. They are all very beautiful, well maintained areas near the Plaza and many other attractions.
Sunset Hill especially has an amazing history. The homes are basically estates, mansions, whatever you want to call them- they are some of the most grand, old homes you will find in KC. Loose Park is right in the neighborhood. It is so beautiful people stand in line all night to reserve the rose garden for weddings!
PP makes a good point about schools though. Public school in this area is likely not going to be an option. I'd imagine most kids who live in these areas attend Pembrooke Hill or maybe St Theresa's/Rockhurst.

I should probably start by saying I am a REA...
I've lived in KC all my life, both KS and MO side, and really never want to live anywhere else. I prefer the KS side myself as they have great school systems, are close to everything you could ever need, and the neighborhoods and parks are wonderful!
Before you decide where you're wanting to live you might want to figure out where you will be working. KC can be a little spread out (although nothing like some of the bigger cities) so you might want to consider minimizing your commute time.
I have some websites in my siggy that you can contact me if you need anything else. I'm happy to talk to you as someone that spends a lot of time researching areas in KC (not as a REA). I'm happy to help if I can!!
