Need a Dr. Rec

So, my Ob/Gyn sent a letter that they are dropping the Ob part of the practice.  Although we are not TTC right now, I would like get settled in with a Dr. and not switch again when the time comes.

Who do you recommend for the Nashville and north area?

Re: Need a Dr. Rec

  • I go to Dr. Cassidy at Women's Medical Associates next to Centennial.  I started going to her before I got pregnant for general well woman care.  Now that I am pregnant, so far I really like having her as my OB.  She is pretty laid back and I don't have to wait a long time for my appointments.  I like her nurse a lot too.  A friend of mine sees Dr. Yu in the same group.

I used to go to Dr. Haney, in the same building, different office.  I liked her a lot but it used to have to wait forever at my appointments for her.  A friend of mine had the same problem with her.  Getting an appointment was easy, however, waiting almost an hour to see her was very common.

  • haha I bet I know who your Dr. is! I got that same letter as did a friend of mine who is also on the nest.  We are TTC (as you know) and I just "left" them b/c they weren't caring enough about helping me TTC. Now I know why.  They don't care about getting me pregnant let alone once I am pregnant now!

I am also getting recs but since I'm not seeing RE's I'm still looking around. Good luck!

  • I see Dr. Anne Anderson.  She is at Baptist as well as Goodletsville.  I love her, and the other doctors in her practice are great too.

  • I go to Richard Presley. He is great. He is part of the TN Women's Care, PC. He is located near Baptist.

His number is 284.2929. He is very kind and caring and takes time to listen to you and everything. We are TTC and he and his nurses have been so helpful.

  • I go to Dr. Erin Yu at Women's Medical Associates.  She's awesome.  They deliver at both Baptist and Centennial.

I used to go to Dr. Allison Strnad, who was with the practice I'm guessing you got the letter from (I had to switch while pg because my insurance changed.  I got a letter from her that she left to join another group that still does OB, Heritage Medical Associates, near Centennial.  I really liked her a lot.

  • I also go to Dr. Anderson.  I recently spent a week in the hospital and was so, so impressed by the care I received from her and all of her partners Dr. Melissa Reynolds and Dr. ? Makis.  They were fabulous.

Sometimes I wonder if I had to do it all over again if I'd choose to go to Dr. Reynolds.  I don't know - they're both great, just totally different manners.  Dr. Reynolds is a bit more gruff and matter of fact - but I kind of like that :)

  • JCM, since you're south, why don't you try Franklin Women's Center?  I see Dr. Dykes who was rec. by another nestie and really like her.  I'm not TTC, but the nestie that rec'ed her has.

Thanks, I will check into it! It would be nice to finally have a Dr. closer to home.  I wanted to deliver at Baptist, but that's OK.

  • Dr. Oldfield at TN Women's Care has delivered both of my kids. She's pretty straightforward and to the point, which some might feel is a bit off-putting, but I haven't had any issue with her. Both of my kids were c-sections. SHe did my first and Dr. Bellardo from the same practice delivered my second (he was on call when I went into labor). Her office is next to Baptist, which is where I delivered both kids and highly recommend!
  • i also go to Dr. Dykes and i like her a lot. she is great to discuss health issues with and is able to get me to relax a bit when i'm there... well, as much as you can relax while on the table, but you know what i mean right? :)
