Hi,
my son is 14 months old and up until now, we have provided care for him our home. I think he is ready for daycare and I have no idea where to start.
I am looking for really good daycare recomendations in Wallingford, North Haven and Hamden. Cost really isn't a factor considering how much home care has cost for the last year. I just really want to find a center that is focused on child development, clean, safe and well educated staff. I have toured the Carrot Patch in Hamden and it seemed too small and outdated. I also checked out Precious Cargo in Wallingford and they are pretty nice but they seem so mechanical. I'm hoping to find a place with a lot of individual attention and not a place where they are super scheduled.
Any suggestions at all would be much appreciated!
TIA
Re: In desparate need of good daycares (NH county)
Our top 2 choices were both YMCA run facilities in Wallingford -- one at Choate and one at Gaylord (where we are now). I'm very happy with our center and have no complaints.
One issue though -- you may run into some issues with a full "center" vs. an in-home daycare as far as scheduling goes. We only looked at centers and after 1 yr., all follow some sort of schedule they follow. For example, DS' toddler room has scheduled meals, naps, art, outside play, etc. If that's not what you want, you may be better off focusing on an in-home location that might be more flexible.
