Charter vs. DirectTV. Any thoughts?
Charter is raising our rate and won't budge on price. We are thinking of jumping ship to DriectTV, any thoughts?
Re: Charter vs. DirectTV. Any thoughts?
We went from Charter to DirectTV when we bought our HD TV. We love it! We get a lot more HD channels then charter had. We also have a lot more channels in general now, especially for the price. It was totally worth switching for us.
Installation was easy. They came when they said they would and were gone when they said they would be gone.
The only thing that I don't like about DirectTV is that we lose our picture sometimes when it storms or rains really hard, especially the HD channels. We won't lose all of our channels, just usually the channel I want to watch at that time:) It doesn' t happen often, but it does happen.
Other then that, I am a fan and will never go back to Charter.
I can't speak to DirectTV vs. Charter (we have Dish Network), but I can tell you that we had cable in our apartment several years ago...and hated it...as soon as we moved out, we got our dish and we love it. We upgraded to HD a while ago, and like a PP mentioned, sometimes HD goes out in bad weather, but that's really the only issue we've had. When we moved from Milwaukee to Madison, it took a few days for our satellite to get hooked back up - I had to watch local stations, and I had withdrawls
We will never, ever, go back to cable if we can help it!
We actually have our internet thru Charter - and we don't have a land line either. We just told Charter that all we wanted was high speed internet, and they were ok with it...they knew we didn't want cable and that we didn't have a home phone line.
I think I would die if I had to go back to dial-up...I get so spoiled with our HD and fast internet
We were supposed to get Directv. They totally jerked us around with the install. The first time they came they said we didn't have the right type of cable lines. We rescheduled. The second time they were supposed to come out, the tech never showed. He was supposed to come between 8-noon. To make a long story short, after several phone calls, where I was put on hold for over 45 minutes and/or hung up on, a customer service rep told me that I should just "Hold my horses" because "the world didn't revolve around me". If I could have reached through the phone and slapped him I would have.
I'm sure the channels are great and all, but their service absolutely sucks.
