  • I just won my first administrative law case. Everybody is congratulating me because the judge is old as dirt and hates my company. Life is good.
  • I am finally meeting/interviewing a midwife this afternoon.

It looks like I'm going to be writing a huge account which means major $$$ to pay off more of the surprise! debt ex-H sprung on me.

I heart Tagalong Girl Scout ice cream.

Of course, they are happy! I bet they are ecstatic! ?Big Smile

In contrast, one of my co-workers just announced that she is NOT coming back (on the eve of her expected return, no less), and we are all fucking_pissed about it.?

    Awww, thanks!

And that's lame-o of your co-worker. Some companies make folks pay back their insurance costs when they do that.

  • I have 6 weeks left until maternity leave :)

Baby girl is growing like a weed.

My husband is working his butt off and then hurrying home to help me cook dinner, etc. so I can rest and put my feet up after work.

    It's a 4-day work week.

We don't give a flying_fuck about the insurance costs. It takes months to interview, approve, and hire new candidates at our company. If she had just told the truth earlier, we could've had a replacement by now. Instead, everybody will be working like dogs for even longer.

    Awww!!

And Weemo - why wouldn't she tell ahead of time?  Is your company not going to make her pay back her insurance costs or her salary that she may have received?  That's bogus.  I know at my old job, you had to come back for 3 months minimum at full billing capacity otherwise you'd be on the hook for paying the maternity benefits back.

Oh, yeah. There's that, too. Wink

    No idea.

I have been told that I am cold and callous about these things and that it's none of my business what a mother decides to do because I can't understand the position unless I've been in it.

    All this may be true.

But I certainly understand the aftermath of such decisions as a co-worker and as someone who has witnessed hiring decisions after multiple occurrences of the mommy-is-leaving phenomenon (i.e., there is an unspoken reluctance to hire more women).

And that is all I have to say on the topic.?

What an asshat move! :( I'm sorry to hear this.
