Ready but the timing isn't right

Quick background, I have been married for one year and am turning 30 next month. I graduate from college this May. We are moving from RI to GA shortly after that. I had thought I would stop taking the pill around February that way if I got pregnant right away I would only be a few months once I graduated. But, after talking things over with my husband, it would be best if we waited to start trying once we moved. That way when we get to GA I can get a job, instead of applying for something and being pregnant where I'd just need to leave the job shortly. I guess I'm just sad because I really want to have a child and its frustrating that I have to wait more than a year to even get pregnant. Then who knows how long it will even take to actually get pregnant. But the other part of me says I am still fairly young, and it might be nice to move to another state not pregnant and enjoy some more alone time with my husband. Things might be different if we weren't moving. Just needed to vent!

Re: Ready but the timing isn't right

  • Thanks for sharing. I pooped this morning and it weighed a pound.

What? You don't want me to share intimate facts with a stranger?

  • It's smarter to be prepared and have things in order before you start TTC than to start trying just because it makes you sad to have to wait. You'll be thanking YH later when you're more settled into your new life in GA and better prepared to welcome a baby into the mix.

Be patient, and when you're ready to start trying, I hope it's a quick journey for you. The women here are FULL of support and knowledge to offer if you offer yours in return, so feel free to hang around as one of those waiting to TTC or come back when you actively start trying.

  • 30 is still young. If the timing is not right then it is just not right. You both need to be on the same page when making a decision like this.

    Oh! Right! Silly me!
  • The waiting is really hard.  I was emotionally ready way before DH and before we were ready situationally and financially.  It was frusterating at the time but I'm really glad we waiting, despite th efact that is wasn't easy for us to get pregnant after all.  Good luck with the wait... it sucks.

  • Thank you for the kind replies. I was just venting for those of you who were mocking my post. The online community should be a place where you can do that without being made fun of.
  • You weren't "being made fun of"  - But this is an online community. You're bound to get some internet strangers who give you real answers and some smartass answers. But that's also in life too.

  • If I had to do it over again, I'd stop hormonal bc at least 3-6 months before ttc. It would suck using condoms, but it's better long term to get your cycle straightened out before you're really ttc anyways.

We stopped bcp about 6 months before we started ttc and used condoms, I enjoyed not being on bcp, I won't go back.

I think you need to wait until you are both 100% ready. I wouldn't want to move or job hunt PG. some people (me included) are pretty physically miserable for a majority if pg. you don't know how you may feel.

Except they say your more fertile the first few months of bcp and some people's cycles stay regular for a few cycles and then get all messed up. I think we would have had the best chance if I'd done the opposite.
