Ready but the timing isn't right

Re: Ready but the timing isn't right

  • The waiting really does suck, we are in the same boat. We know its for the best to wait, but it really doesn't make it any easier. Like a few of the other gals said, you can get yourself ready physically as well (get off BC 3-6 months before, start pre natal vitamins, etc) and of course work on your relationship and get settled into wherever you're going to be. Make sure you and your H are in the same page.

And stick around, these ladies are super helpful and supportive. Read up to get a feel for the board, it's really not too scary :)

If I had to do it over again, I'd stop hormonal bc at least 3-6 months before ttc. It would suck using condoms, but it's better long term to get your cycle straightened out before you're really ttc anyways.
Except they say your more fertile the first few months of bcp and some people's cycles stay regular for a few cycles and then get all messed up. I think we would have had the best chance if I'd done the opposite.
I definitely think my first 2 cycles right off BC were my best. Both those first 2 cycles were exactly a month long; my third cycle went 44 days.

I agree with @LuckyAngel07 and @Ecinereb. My first cycle was exactly 28 days, then the next to were in the 40's. I actually O'd those first 3 cycles.  I feel like we would've possibly had a chance if we were TTC when I got off BC.

  • The waiting sucks. I take some medications that aren't compatible with pregnancy so now that I have all my life ducks in a row (husband, dream job, financially stable, emotionally 'prepared') I still have to wait a few more months until I can titrate off all the medication safely. AHGGGGGGG. But, it's the safe and healthy thing to do. I've waited this long, I can keep waiting. You can too. :-) It'll make us stronger and stabler parents.
  • Also, pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and read it now. LOTS of great info about your body and vital info for getting pregnant as quickly as possible.
