Fail (long)

I went to my HSG this morning. As I laid on the table for 10 minutes, I waited as the doctor did the procedure. Or, so I thought.

My cervix is too narrow and slanted. It has scar tissue. He couldn't do the HSG. The doctor explains this to me and goes "This is probably a reason you're not getting pregnant. The odds with a cervix like this of the sperm getting in is under 10%."

I then was instructed to call my regular doctor and ask what he wants to do next. I cleaned up and went home, waiting for my doctor to call.

He called me within five minutes of me getting home.  He first started asking if I was okay. And saying he was so sorry it didn’t work. He said at this point I need to go to a RE. He recommended a few and told me to call him if I need anything or have any questions.

I called the RE and have an appointment for the 20th.

I went to work. After sitting at home by myself my mind was racing. Less then 10% chance of getting pregnant cause of my cervix? This is not the news I was supposed to get today. I was supposed to get news about my ovaries and tubes nad stuff.  And they can’t even get in!!!

Regardless of whatever is preventing me from ovulating, this is an issue. Regardless of DH’s S/A results.  I wish my appointment was sooner, but the doctor is on vacation. I get that. I’m just having a really bad day now.

  • Oh, sweetie!! ((hugs)) That is definitely not something I'd have been prepared to hear either. I'm so sorry THAT is what you left your appt with today.

The good: you don't have to wait weeks/months to see the RE. Getting an appt just a couple of weeks away is fantastic. Hopefully he/she will easily be able to figure out why you're not Oing and get you Oing. Hopefully he/she will also have a relatively simple fix for your cervix (even if it is surgical) or can head straight for IUI.

Have you talked to your DH about this yet?

He doesn't know yet. It's just him and his boss where he works. I'm going to tell him tonight. He's also hopefully getting his S/A results today so I don't want to hit him with this before he gets his results.
