Developing Future Readers
So all this talk about HP and magic and what your kids read got me thinking. After having DS, I started reading more and more books that I thought would appeal to a young boy. Percy Jackson, HP, etc.. I don't even know if DS will like to read (so far, so good though.

). Do you plan on reading certain books before allowing your child to read them? I do. I know my mom didn't do this and I now realize I was reading some books that were probably way too mature for me.

I don't have kids yet, so I don't entirely know what I would do. But I would think that if it was a children's book I would maybe glance through it but probably assume that its okay because it is in the Children's Genre. Anything else I would probably at least check out on good reads.
I'll make sure I'm keeping an eye on what she's reading, and I don't think I could forbid her from reading something until I read it first to form my own opinion (unless it was just obviously inappropriate), but I guess we'll see how it goes when the time comes
