(SP) City of Bones...

was a waste of $16.50.

I am SO freaking disappointed.

First of all, I was too distracted by how ugly Jace is to enjoy it. I mean, aren't half the books a tribute to how hot Jace is? And how amazing and witty and arrogant and all that. Nope. And since when did he have a British accent?

And OMG Magnus Bane was awful. So awful.

AND THEY RUINED the greenhouse scene by playing cheesetastic music.

Sigh. Even Twilight was better.

(Did I just say that?)

Re: (SP) City of Bones...

  • YIKES. Well, I barely remember the details of the book, so maybe I won't hate the movie. I do agree with Jace's casting. Hot he is not. Okay, and now I sound like a Dr. Seuss book.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • Jace looks like a praying mantis. I couldn't get over how ugly he is the whole movie. Terrible casting job on him. "Jace" has the same acting skills as Robert Pattinson and the emotional capability of Kristin Stewart.

    Magnus... ::sigh::

I was ok with Isabelle but wish she was a bit bitchier like in the books.

Wait, you guys didn't swoon over Gellert Grindelwald/Caius?

    Yeah, he's kind of a creeper.  /:)

I was looking forward to this movie.  What a bummer.

  • Boo. Not surprised though. The previews actually made me not excited anymore. I was just commenting to DH tonight how disappointed I was seeing the preview because the books are so good.

  • Now I am definitely not seeing the movie.  I cringed when I saw the preview on the big screen.  It's such a fun book!  Why would they wreck it?
    :(
  • Yes, AWFUL,AWFUL,AWFUL, DH took me to see it earlier today, I wanted to go ask for my money back. And Magnus Bane's character was horrid.
I need to go back read the first book just so I can erase the movie from my brain.
  • Ugh. I'm not surprised.

It wasn't so much that it was different from the book. It was just a bad, bad movie. They screwed up a few essential casting decisions that could have fixed the big problems. It looks like it had a decent budget because the special effects were mostly good - but it's like they tried to cheapen it up. I don't get it.

I forgot to mention, the scene with the vampires at Hotel Dumort was actually pretty good.

  • I wasn't expecting the movie to be amazing, but I was hoping for passable.  Ugh, I hate when something good is ruined by poor casting.

Alec looked liked a man's head on a boy's body. I really wanted to love the movie but I was so distracted by how wrong/ugly Jace was.

I loved Simon and they did a good job with the Demons. That can't hold the movie though.

  • What creeped me out even more were the women (yes, they were closer to my age) basically creaming themselves and swooning every time Jace appeared, spoke, turned around to show the loose fabric where a butt should be. I.JUST.DON'T.GET.IT!

  • I hate to hear this! I was hoping it would be good, especially after being disappointed by the Vampire Academy trailer. I hate when books that I love get ruined in a movie!!

  • I could have forgiven almost anything if they had just gotten Jace right. I went into it hoping to be convinced. That didn't happen.

I love this series, but it really should have stopped after the third book.  Having said that, I'll still finish reading the series.

Her other series is so much better, though.

You mean the fifth book, right? I'm not sure if I've read that one yet or not.

I DO want to read her other series.

Yes, the 5th book. The 4th was bad, but the 5th, I liked a lot.

YOU MUST READ the clockwork series. It's so so so good.
