There is just something so very unnatural about memory foam.  And the fact that is molds to you head or whatever.  Ugh.

  • Spiders. Ugh. Even the little ones. Or any bug that moves fast or flies or has a million legs. Cannot handle.

Water that I can't touch the bottom in. I can't swim because of it. :(

Driving. I hate it. Especially in traffic. I feel like I'm anticipating being in an accident the whole time and my heart races. I try to be very alert and careful and only drive when I have to. I would love to live in a city with public transportation. We have buses here but they are a joke and are always late.

My apartment catching fire when I'm not home and my cats not being able to get out. :((

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

@Menrades Really? If you can answer, why? Also is it just mirrors or all reflective surfaces?

  • Mostly mirrors and it depends on the mirror. I feel uncomfortable around a lot of them. I don't keep them in the house other than in the bathrooms. There is one mirror I have attached to a vanity in the bedroom and it was my grandmother's. It is the only one that doesn't make me uncomfortable. I can't explain why.

  • I hate patterns as well. beehives, those pods...mostly patterns that occur in nature. Weird.

Oh, and even though I'm afraid of open heights, I do like rock climbing. But the first time I actually went outdoor climbing, I got 30 feet up, then clung to the side of the mountain and cried.

This post is making me feel better.

  • I don't have a lot of fears, but I have a TON of anxiety triggers...I have horrible white coat syndrome (and I am a nurse...haha!), and I get anxiety when I think about my money issues (I have a lot of debt from my years after college and my married years and then my divorce and moving out that I am working to pay off), and I also have some specific issues I am working on in therapy that give me a lot of anxiety. And also I guess I am afraid that something will happen so that my therapist won't be able to work with me anymore (like she will move or change jobs, I guess), and I will have to go back to the beginning with someone new. But clowns? Spiders? Snakes? Heights? I am good with that stuff.

Oh, I do have a fear of leaving the stove on or leaving a candle lit and having my home burn as a result. But I think that's more anxiety stuff also. I am not afraid of fire itself.

  • 1. Spiders- They're like tiny balls of condensed evil with legs that move all too un-naturally. I can't event think about the ones that are big enough to be visibly fuzzy.

    2. Mirrors- I'm convinced that there's more to what I can see in the reflection and some day I'll actually see it. (ghosts, parallel universe, something along those lines)

    3. Being in or on a structure that collapses- especially our house. This one's relatively new though and has made using our treadmil upstairs virtually impossible.

Oh God.. this too.  I hate this.

This, but all bridges in general.  I specifically hate water bridges.  Also tunnels that go under water.  This is my greatest fear, and I just know the church is going to move us here one day and I'll have to travel it all the time:

It's the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  Also known as hell and the star of my childhood recurring nightmares that I used to have before I ever knew this place existed.  I will probably die here some day.

  • I have never heard of anyone being afraid of mirrors before. I find that so fascinating!!

  • I'm paranoid about my family being hurt. Large wild animals not in a zoo, like coyotes. House centipedes. Falling down stairs. I think only my fear of losing people I'm close to is something that's grown.

  • Spiders.

And sharks.  I don't get in water where I can't see my feet touching the bottom.  If something is going to eat me, I want to be able to brace myself for it.

  • Being near or going past windows at night. I walk through the house as quickly as possible to get to whatever room I need to be in and don't get up unless necessary. Forget sleeping by a window. I've been that way ever since I was little. Growing up my parents told me that my room had a bulletproof window (my room was too small for me to be far enough away from the window). I believed them until I was a teenager and we were living in a different house and went waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit a minute. I get why they had to lie to me though. I must have been miserable to deal with.

  • My worst one is heights. I try to challenge myself to not be so afraid by doing things like rock climbing, hiking... Unfortunately it doesnt make it any better. I still get shaky and feel relived to get back to the group even from a small ladder. I do not know if I will ever get over being terrified of heights, but I also can not tell if its getting worse or staying the same.

  • I have never heard of anyone being afraid of mirrors before. I find that so fascinating!!

For me it is so ingrained in me at this point. I cannot look into a mirror for very long at all without being scared, forget about even walking by one after a certain time of night. I know I have reasons, but they are difficult to talk about.

  • I had my first uncontrolled panic when riding the Ferris wheel on the Navy Pier in Chicago when Claire wouldn't let me hold her and I realized that there is a Claire-sized gap under the door of the car.  My palms are all sweaty just thinking about it.  Freaked.  Out.

  • Cornfields.

And I grew up in a farming community in Ohio. :((

It would just be so, so easy to get lost in one and wonder around in circles for ever and everything on every side would look exactly the same. And in the same regard, it would be so easy for someone else to hide in there. Just waiting.

That's really interesting, I think.  I get uncomfortable if I actually LOOK at myself, like in the eyes. It feels like there's a clone of me

omg. this is totally what it is! lol
  • I'm afraid of low heights. I went skydiving no problem and would do it a million times over. But the same summer as my first jump, I went treetop trekking (http://treetoptrekking.com/en/) and totally froze up. I started crying and had to be belayed down by the staff.

Ok, without specifics, a very close person to me when I was young died rather violently in front of a mirror. For years I saw her in it before the mirror was moved. So now.... I just can't do mirrors.
