Cool Personality Test

Re: Cool Personality Test

  • Your personality type: "Energetic Doer"

Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented. "Doers" who are focused on immediate results. Living in the here-and-now, they’re risk-takers who live fast-paced lifestyles. Impatient with long explanations. Extremely loyal to their peers, but not usually respectful of laws and rules if they get in the way of getting things done. Great people skills.

Careers that could fit you include:

Sales representatives, marketers, police, detectives, paramedics, medical technicians, computer technicians, computer technical support, entrepreneurs, comedians, agents, race car drivers, firefighters, military, loan sharks, con men, auditors, carpenters, craft workers, farmers, laborers, service workers, transportation operatives.

Given what I do for work, this fits. I found it amusing that for careers it included sales rep, loan shark, con men, service workers. I think this personality fits my work. Too bad I hate my job and need to find a new one. :(

You can find a job in loan sharking since you dont like your job!

  • I got Independent Thinker, which goes with INTJ, which is what I got on Myers-Briggs.

My husband, one of his sisters and my father are also INTJs, which I think is weird b/c it's supposed to be a rarer personality type (especially in women). I'm pretty sure we are at least on different parts of the spectrum for each category (I'm much more extroverted than DH, for example, but I wouldn't consider myself an extrovert by any means).  We do all have careers listed in this category though.

The explanation for Judging vs Perceiving cracks me up.  (Judging organizes, plans, controls and decides clear firm actions... makes decisions quickly, while Perceiving responds and acts with flexibility...relatively slow to decide)  I definitely like to have things planned ahead and organized, but because of that I tend to take forever to make a decision.  I feel like if you were flexible you would be more likely to jump to a decision b/c if it doesn't go well, you'd be ok with changing it.
  • I don't know about being excited about turning theories into understandings.  More like I like theories and ideas, but struggle to make them a reality.  Everything else is about right, I think.

    Your personality type: "Analytical Thinker"

Logical, original, creative thinkers. Can become very excited about theories and ideas. Exceptionally capable and driven to turn theories into clear understandings. Highly value knowledge, competence and logic. Quiet and reserved, hard to get to know well. Individualistic, having no interest in leading or following others. Highly analytical, they can discover connections between two seemingly unrelated things and work best when allowed to use their imagination and critical thinking.

Careers that could fit you include:

Physicists, chemists, biologists, photographers, strategic planners, mathematicians, university professors, computer programmers, computer animators, technical writers, engineers, lawyers, forensic researchers, writers, artists, psychologists, social scientists, systems analysts, researchers, surveyors.

  • Your personality type: "Dreamy Idealist"

Quiet, reflective and idealistic. Interested in serving humanity. Well-developed value system, which they strive to live in accordance with. Extremely loyal. Adaptable and laid-back unless a strongly-held value is threatened. Usually talented writers. Mentally quick and able to see possibilities. Interested in understanding and helping people.

Careers that could fit you include:

Writers, artists, counselors, social workers, English teachers, fine arts teachers, child care workers, clergy, missionaries, psychologists, psychiatrists, scientists, political activists, editors, education consultants, journalists, religious educators, social scientists.

This is pretty accurate I would say. I'm working on a master's degree in therapy so the careers definitely fit, though it seems like a lot of them were repeated haha.

  • Is this the same thing (or a ripoff of?) the Myers- Briggs personality thingy? Speaking of which, their book, "Please Understand Me," is an excellent book. Goes into all kinds of detail about the personality types here.

  • Mine was also spot on. I'm a good-natured realist. The careers listed include what I'm doing now and things I've said I would do if I were to ever go back to school.

The description of myself is very similar to characteristics from  an assessment my team went through at work (DISC training), and I've found many of those principles useful at work and in life in general for how to relate to others, etc.

  • I am a Engaged Idealist.

I do have a question though...why are all the people listed as examples male?

Renowned persons with similar personality types:

    • Barack Obama, American president
    • Ben Affleck, actor
    • Ben Stiller, actor and comedian
    • Martin Luther King Jr., minister and civil rights activist
    • François Mitterrand, French president
    • Johnny Depp, actor
    • Matthew McConaughey, actor
    • Mikhail Gorbachev, last leader of Soviet Union
    • Petros "Pete" Sampras, tennis champion
    • Tommy Lee Jones, actor

I got independent thinker, which is pretty accurate. Especially the part that says, "Have very high standards for their performance and the performance of others." I actually had a conversation with my boss last week about how I've had to lower my expectations of others at work and that I am struggling with it. Makes it really difficult for me to delegate, but I'm working on it!
LOL, I had almost the same conversation with my boss last week.  Apparently I ask myself the right questions and she can tell I address scenarios in my head, but I never ask anyone else for their opinions.  In a roundabout way, I don't think anyone else has anything good to add.  It took everything I had to admit she had a point instead of pointing out that I'm usually correct in my opinion.  I have the same issues with delegating too.  Mentally, it's easier to do it myself and I don't like to let go.

  • This is definitely right on for me. Suggested career was psychologist which is what I am :)

    Your personality type: "Harmony-seeking Idealist"

Well-developed value systems which they strictly adhere to. Well-respected for their perserverence in doing the right thing. Likely to be individualistic, rather than leading or following.
