@BruinsBabe33 - yah, I had heard that the video was censored because it was all nakey. Again, I don't see why people are focused on her sexual actions, when clearly, he was part of it. Ugh. So gross.

I actually had not heard this song before, so I just watched the uncensored video on youtube, and Miley was wearing WAY more clothes than the chicks in the video. Yes, her performance was quite a bit more vulgar than the girls in the video, but it looks like they just took the video a step beyond for the VMA's which has historically been the place for shock performances.

All in all, I was embarrassed for her watching that, but she's not the only one the media should be pointing their big foam finger at.

Also, according to the video, Robin Thicke has a big dick. So there's that.

That video is so weird and so wrong. I had no idea that's where the foam finger and her outfit "inspiration" came from.

I think the whole performance would have been so much better if they'd both kept it cleaner, more like the video. It was just too uncomfortable to watch on stage.

And I still can't get over how unattractive Miley hanging her tongue out of her mouth was.

I do see the racism in her solo performance. Whether she meant it or even realizes it is another issue. However, I do feel that these performances need to be looked at more closely by the people choreographing them and producing them and I feel that the performers need to evaluate the things they are doing.

If no one takes the time to analyze things like these performances, like the author of the article that was posted, they will continue. To me, that is not acceptable. There is a way of entertaining without insulting groups of people and I feel performers have a duty to do that especially now that there is so much focus on celebrity lives and what they do.

Rhianna once said that she didn't care that her actions influence children because she is 23 and it is not her job to care what people think of her, and that is the complete wrong attitude to have. Miley is clearly exhibiting the same attitude. I also noticed no one is making a fuss over the fact that Macklemore used his award to talk about human rights.

I voted for gross and inappropriate (because it was) but more than anything, it's just really, really sad. I think she's a young girl who was thrown into the spotlight young (yes, their choice, but still) and is now crying out for attention, ANY attention, at any cost. I think shes trying to figure how how to be an adult star vs a child star and has no idea how to go about it bc her childhood was warped. It's actually heartbreaking to see someone go to such lengths to garner attention and stay "relevant". So, so sad. I just want to hug her and tell her she's worth so much more than the image she's trying to portray. Have a little respect for herself.

And I'm not a fan of Robin Thicke. Now or before His part in it was just as inappropriate and he's "old enough to know better". He was grinding up on a girl who is technically young enough to be his daughter. Gross...

@RockABye - I don't put blame on him that way. Miley Cyrus is nearly 21 years old. He is 36. That isn't "old enough to be her father" kind of age differences here. They are old enough to be consenting adults.

I think her tongue out was wholly unattractive, but...we're talking about MTV. The shock factor is the draw for the VMAs.

I guess I just mean that he appears much older than her and its weird. To me. Not that that age difference is necessarily wrong by any means. It was just incredibly awkward to watch. It very well could be in part due to her immature antics and goofy costume (pre-strip down) and that he just looks like a 30something yr old man, which he is. Meh, whatever

I don't care for either of them, regardless of their ages or songs or so called dance moves. Probably why I don't watch or have MTV lol I haven't watched the VMAs in many years and only googled their spot after I heard all the ruckus.

Okay, okaaaaaay so maybe "clean" wasn't the word for it. Both performance and video were/are incredibly wrong, but something about the way Robin and Miley performed it on stage icked me out more than the video (which still icked me out substantially).

When I watched it, I couldn't believe how inappropriate it was. I do agree with the ladies that said it is more desperate and sad than anything. To me, it seemed like she was purposely going for that shock value to get all this attention. I guess she got what she wanted!

Was SHE going for the shock value, though? Like it has been posted, she was mimicking HIS video. She got the all of the criticism for a duet, and he certainly wasn't pushing her away saying, "Whoa, this may be inappropriate!"

@bruinsbabe33, true. When I saw Robin Thicke's uncensored video I couldn't believe that either. Justin Timberlake had a similar video that I saw for his song Tunnel Vision. I don't get what is with this trend of practically naked women in music videos. I know that women have always been somewhat objectified in popular culture but it seems like it's going to new heights lately.

In all seriousness, I don't get the naked women thing. It seems to be getting much worse in pop culture I think there is something to be said about leaving something up to the imagination.

If they are going to take it there why not have everyone be naked? Let's just forget about clothes all together! But only the attractive people that fit the right body type! Can't have any uglies or fatties then it is just crude!

I dunno. The toplessness in the uncensored video didn't really bother me. I thought it was tasteful in a "playboy vs. hustler" kind of way.

Also, none of the models in the video used that foam finger as mock penis.

At least they were good looking, real boobs?

I donno if they were real... A lot of them stayed really still while they were dancing... Usually you get a bit of jiggle... but I am admittedly really bad at the "Are they real?" game.
