FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

My confession is that I kind of want to get another dog already. I lost my dog on 8/14 and I feel like that would be disrespectful to his memory though and feel guilty about it. It just feels so weird to be in our house without him. He was like my shadow. Plus I haven't been without at least one dog in the house in about 13 years. It sucks! :(

That said, I think it would be smarter to wait until DS is out of diapers and fairly accident-free, which should be very soon. When I am thinking logically, I know we should probably wait until Spring.

If it were me, I would probably wait until DS is out of diapers.  It would be easier on you while bringing in a new member of the family.  I wouldn't be able to step into a rescue until I was ready because I would want to bring them ALL home.

When I rescued Mia, A had to stop me from bringing home 4 dogs.

I am totally with you on this! I can't say no to their sweet little faces either. It is how we ended up with our last 2 dogs.
I wish more people would rescue! My heart can't handle all the dogs with expiration dates.

I stalked my dog in WA when I was stationed there for 4 months until I convinced DH to let me adopt her. I love her to pieces!! We wont consider adopting from pet stores or breeders anymore.

  • I have every intention of doing as little work as possible today, but just enough that it still looks like i'm working hard.

I wanted to ask to leave early today because of the long weekend, but I decided not to because my boss sometimes lets us out early on Fridays and if that happens, i won't have to use any PTO.

this one's kind of catty, but - I decided I wanted to go to a movie tonight with my BF and his friends (I was invited, but wasn't sure if I wanted cause I couldn't care less about the movie they're seeing.) But I recently found out that a girl who my BF used to work with is going. She's really into working out and is in pretty good shape, and her / her BF used to make jokes sometimes about me being 'fat'.  I've been working out a lot lately and am starting to see results (especially in my bum, which used to look like a granny's) ....... so I kind of want to go just so I can show off a little and look awesome in my new jeans.
She sounds like a real bitch. I don't think I'd want to go out with her :/

My cats gigantic vet bills are keeping my from buying shoes and I am not happy about it.

I just had to pay $315 for an ultrasound and I have an appt next month for two of the cats to get their teeth cleaned which is probably going to cost me about $600.  And I still need to make an appt for cat #3 to get his teeth cleaned which will be another $300.  And this is all after spending over $300 for Booney's final vet visits and cremation.  Ugh.

Cat #4 (the kitten that I said no to) gets nothing.  DH and step-monster can deal with that one.

Having 4 cats is expensive.  But I am a sucker and love them to pieces.  They are worth every penny to me.  Even if it means I can't buy shoes.

    I want shoes dammit!!!!!!!!!
booneybear We use Banefiled (through petsmart) its the best invention ever. Shots, and teeth cleanings are included in most of the plans along with most of the other stuff you mentioned. I would check this out so you can buy shoes!!

You should totes consider pet insurance!
It is all my fault that I have these bills.  I have been putting off the teeth cleaning for years and seeing that is what lead to Booney's heart disease, I am getting my shit together and being a responsible pet owner and trying to keep the same thing from happening to Lily, PawPaw and Victor.   Only with Victor he has a heart murmur so they wanted to take the precaution and do the ultrasound to make sure he would be ok under the anestisia (sp?) for the teeth cleaning.

that was when the 'fat' jokes would get aimed at me. It's super dumb really, and I usually avoid her at all costs... but my vanity is winning today lol

Sorry in advance, this is probably more info than necessary:
He's not friends with her anymore, but he's friends with the other people that are going.... who
are still friends with her.  My bf was her old boss, and when he left she basically talked s*** about him to everyone who was still there, including the higher ups, which made him look bad.  My bf is still friends with a lot of his old employees (some of who are going) so he found out about it immediately, and cut off all contact with her.  He's nice to her when she's around, but he basically ignores her until she says something first.  Most of his employees left right my BF did, so only 2 other people know what she said. We weren't about to stoop to that level and talk s*** about her right back.

Everyone else is fantastic though, and we're really close to the other people going.
  • I'm pregnant and tired and nauseous and lately my back, neck and shoulders kill. DH asked for sex not once, but when I said not tonight, more like 4 times. Then each time he'd rub my back for two seconds, he'd ask again. No! And stop making me look like a b!tch because I have to say no 4-5 times in which you sigh loudly as if it's my fault.

also? We had sex earlier the same day. Rant over.

  • I love my house.  It's not the most desirable layout for most people, but for us it works.  It's a split foyer and it's in a great neighborhood, it's has a great open layout upstairs and a rec area downstairs, and the price was extremely reasonable.

But today I hate my house because the kitchen is upstairs with the bedrooms.  And....I'm tired.  I want to sleep but my husband is making breakfast for me loudly.  I love him, but I am irrationally angry at the noise.

I feel like a terrible person for being grumpy at him.

  • Our dog is purebred (hangs head in shame). DH's best friend had a litter and we ended up getting one of the puppies but it was totally unplanned (as in DH wanted one and I didn't).

My mom was the director of humane education at the local humane society when I was growing up so we had a lot of rescue dogs and cats. She was always a new pet home. If that counts for anything. : (

That seems like an entirely different situation... it
sounds like your DH's best friend is not a breeder. Did you buy the puppy from them?? Did the mother come from a breeder/store?

If it were me, I wouldn't be ashamed of that. I'd much rather get a pure bred puppy from a friend than a store/breeder/mill.  At least the mother is being taken care of by - i'd assume - a good family, and at least one of the puppies went to a good home.

DH's friend is not a breeder and only had that one litter. The mom is very well taken care of but she was originally from a breeder. She had been in abusive home and had been returned to the breeder when DH's friend got her.

Ditto. There are too many dogs who need rescuing.

On another note, this woman at the dog park was making bitchy comments to me about having a pure bred dog and how I must have bought him from a breeder and how he must have cost a fortune and I could have adopted six dogs for what I probably paid for him.

Yes, my dog is probably a pure breed. He was still a rescue. You think people don't abandon pure breeds? My poor corgi was abandoned in a house and left to starve with two other dogs. One of them died, the other was a German Shepherd that weighed 14 lbs when they found them. He was nursed back to health and then put up for adoption. So, don't go judging me on shit you don't know about.

    Phew. Rant over.

I would have been so pissed. Plenty of purebred dogs end up in shelters & rescues. Not all breeders are diligent about finding responsible homes. Either she was just plain dumb or she has some serious balls to say that to a stranger. Ugh!
