Re: A MOD FOR THE GETTING PREGNANT BOARD

  • I think people should express interest in doing it before being selected or suggested. Can those who are interested post here, and then there can be a vote or something?
IUI - BFP! Baby boy born still - August 2012
    IVF - BFP - miscarriage June 2013
    FET - BFN
    FET - BFN
    Switched clinics
IVF with PGD - three embryos created, all healthy - July 2014
FET - transferred two embryos (boy and girl) - Nov 2014 - BFP!
    Baby Boy born July 2015

  • I agree with ILRV. I think people need to volunteer for this position and THEN we can vote on who is the moderator.

  • I think we should do a clicky poll to see who has the most votes. It is anonymous and easier than you having to read a bunch of PMs and deciding. That way people can volunteer in a new thread and then when it is closed we do a vote. What do you think @nestcayla ?
This is a great suggestion, although if anyone would like to nominate someone they should PM me their top 3 choices.
Someone will not be assigned to be a mod just because they received the most votes. It is a process that will include me checking their previous posts, profile and activity to make sure that they are a good candidate to be a mod -- then that person will be contacted through a PM to be asked if they are up for the position. If they accept the responsibility I will be in touch with them about what it means to be a mod and what their role will be on the boards.

This is a vote that will take place in a PM rather than on a poll on the board. Thank you for understanding, I will look out for all of your PMs over the next week.

  • I still think we should put it to a vote and THEN you can determine if that person is fit to be a mod.

Your votes will be polled through the PM system.

    thank you for understanding

  • If that person isn't a good candidate, move to the person with the next highest number of votes.

That's kind of ridiculous, but whatever.  Why can't we make a poll after people volunteer?  Is that not the same thing as polling through the PM system?  Except a little bit easier??

Gosh MOA stop making sense! That isn't how things are done around the nest. I should have known the neat hates clicky polls! Look how long it took them to get them active again!

That's exactly the process that will be used. A mod won't just be chosen because they have the highest votes, they are going to be a person who is a positive influence in the community board Getting Pregnant and they will be someone who will be able to fulfill the mod duties yet still be active in the posts/threads the same way they have been as a regular user.

CAREFUL.  You might break the clicky polls again.

I appreciate you trying to make the process easier for me, but this is the route that needs to be followed. If the board is interested in getting a mod that is already a fellow poster on Getting Pregnant then this is the process we need to go by.

    thanks for understanding!

  • While it's definitely easier to vote through a clicky poll, it actually makes sense to me for it to be done through PM. People "nominated" won't be able to see how many votes they get (or don't get), which could lead to hurt feelings if someone who gets a ton of votes doesn't get asked to be a mod for whatever reason, or if someone who wants to be a mod doesn't get many votes from the board.

Yes, I understand that, but maybe I'm not being clear.  Let people volunteer.  Let GP put it to a vote.  Then you check out the person with the highest number of votes.  That makes way more sense than having people send you random names all willynilly.  What if people send you names of people that don't want the responsibility?  Seems like a giant waste of time

If you would like to nominate yourself, please note that in the PM that you send me. I am happy to receive any and all nominations -- that includes a nomination for yourself and other users that you think would be a great mod

I knew you were against clicky polls, too! If someone is going to get butt hurt over not having a lot of votes they probably don't have the emotional capacity to moderate an Internet forum. I'm not saying a clicky poll would be the end all be all of it because obviously you can't have a mod that isn't capable of doing the job, but people should be able to volunteer themselves because it is a commitment.

@bruinsbabe33 if someone would like to volunteer for the position they are more than welcome to note that in the PM that they send me. If they nominate their personal user name they can say that and include 2 other user names that they think would make a good mod.

PM me with any other questions

  • What if we just make a post that says "who wants to be mod" and anyone who wants it can comment "I do" and then we can decide from that list who we think is best and send it to NestCayla. I wouldn't want to do it, but would feel bad if I did get nominated and offered it (doubt it haha). I wouldn't want to suggest someone who doesn't want it.

I someone is nominated and they do not wish to take on the role as a mod they can turn down the offer and based on the votes the runner up will receive an offer.

How about his... if you do NOT want to be in the running as a mod PM me that detail and if your name is voted for I will know that you do not want to be in the running.

PM me if you have any other questions about this

    thanks
