S/O Pet Semetery post

What types of books or movies scare you the most?

For me, anything involving:

Ghosts
Religion in some aspect (The Omen, The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, etc.)
Home invasions (The Strangers)

I have to say that the second one scares me the most.  If they include some kind of chanting or choir music, I lose my freakin mind.

I've honestly never read a scary book, mostly because I'm a wimp. lol I will do it this year, though. For movies, though:

-Psychological thrillers. Anything that messes with your mind scares the crap out of me. I'm convinced that going crazy is the scariest thing imaginable.

-Stalker style killers/Home Invasions. The ones who have no apparent motive outside of just wanting to kill someone.

    -Really realistic gore.

    ETA:

    -Hauntings/Possessions.
  • Mostly viruses.  You know, like Outbreak.  ::shudders::

Things like that just scare the shit out of me.

  • Definitely ghosts.

Give me ax murderers all day long, but give me ghosts and I lose my shit.

  • Scary books don't scare me at all.

I am pretty much a big baby when it comes to horror movies though.  Any kind of "suspense" horror movies (Paranomal Activity, Woman in Black, etc.  I don't need things jumping out at me)  make me want to pee myself.

Movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th (basically psycho killer movies) don't bother me at all.

And I am not a big fan of the Outbreak, Contamination, monkey virus spreading movies.  Way to fucking real life.  No thank you.

Scary children make me laugh.  I just can't see children as scary seeing the average adult can pretty much just kick them across the room.

This.  And if I think it was based on a true story, like Amityville before we learned they were big fat fakers.

The idea of a demon or something bigger than me or something

Ghosts should scared me but they don't.  I'm sure I would be singing a different tune if I woke up and one were staring at me.

The idea of home invasions and all that makes me want to take self defense classes.

  • Our HR Manager just reminded me of a PREVIEW for a movie that gave me nightmares. It was some horribly cheesy slasher film but the girl is calling 911 trying to trace the person who is calling her to scare her and the 911 operator says "Ma'am the call is coming from inside the house."

    Nope. Nope. Nope.

Well, I can't put a bullet through them and I've watched a lot of ghost stories where they terrorize people.

Could you seriously picture me at a self defense class? Forget horror movies, that would be a slapstick COMEDY.

But they don't scare you.  So either you don't believe the ghost storytellers or that there are ghosts.

  • I'm kind of a scaredy cat when it comes to scary movies. I also don't do haunted houses.

I don't mind Scream, Halloween, etc. What I really don't like, and don't really watch much of, are any that involve demons, possession, exorcism, etc.

Gotcha.  That makes more sense.  I can definitely understand why you'd (the general) be afraid of some of them.  But most don't want to hurt you.

Random, but... if you've ever called yourself from inside your own house (landlines only) it does a weird double-ring because it's on the same line, which would be a dead give away that it's inside. When I was in HS i did this to my family because I was too lazy to go downstairs to ask questions.

I hate hate hate pitch black darkness, and that's what 90 percent of haunted houses are... fumbling around in a pitch black hallway while things jump out at you.
