I honestly would have never thought of doing acupuncture to speed things up if my doctor hadn't mentioned it.
I have never been scared of needles but I was a little scared of the whole process. To my surprise It was all very easy and it took the lady maybe 5 minutes to put all the needles in. I think she put in a total of like 15 needles. She reassured me that she had worked with other pregnant woman and that they usually went into labor after the first visit. After she put in all the needles I laid on a recliner for like an hour with my eyes closed in a very comfortable dark room.
I will mention just in case you or anyone else decides to do acupuncture, some places offer what they call a community setting. In the community setting you have maybe 8 recliners in one big room and you do it with other people in the room. I wore all my clothes she only put needles on my legs, arms, feet, hands and one on the top of my head. With the community setting they offer a sliding scale price, the place I did it was between $20-$40. I did want to do a private room because I felt more comfortable but paying $100 for a private room seemed crazy since I would only be going once. After doing the community setting it wasn't weird or anything so I do recommend the community setting unless you are okay with the price for the privacy.
If you happen to go past your EDD and nothing else works like it didn't for me, I definitely say try acupuncture if your doctor says it's okay.
