  • I've never gotten one before.  Now that I'm KU, I think I'll be getting one.  I'm not sure.  I'll ask my OB about it at my next appointment if she thinks I should.  I'm not due until April and that's after flu season. I don't know.

  • I voted the SS because it is mandatory for me to get it (I am military). If it was not mandatory I would not get it.

  • I've never gotten one before and wasn't planning on getting one this year unless my OB thinks I should.

  • SS: I never get one but did this year because my twins will be born during flu season...recommended by my Dr.

  • I voted SS because it's mandatory that I get one (I work in a hospital.)  If it were up to me I would not get one.  We can only get out of them if we have an allergy, doctors excuse or religious reasons for not getting one.

  • I got one once and got extremely sick right after. Like the next day. It was completely awful. Coincidence? Maybe, but I've never gotten once since.

  • I got one a few years ago and have meant to every year since, but have forgotten. I plan to get one this year.

  • I have never gotten a flu shot (and knock on wood, I have never had the flu).  Go figure.

I said SS because I generally get one, but I'm not of the "of course, I don't want to get sick" delusion.  I know I might still get the flu, but I feel like the shot can't hurt.
  • Just got mine today. I've gotten one every year since nursing school. No reason for me not to get one.

  • I'm not at any particular risk and I don't have kids or elderly relatives or anyone with immune deficiencies who would be put at risk, so I don't bother.
    imageimage image
  • If I don't get one, my Mom and sister won't hang out with me during flu season because they both have compromised immune systems. That's my main reason for doing it.
  • I voted SS.  I regularly got one for 7 or 8 years in a row, but didn't get one last year for some reason. No idea if I'll get one this year or not, but I probably will.

  • I always get one, and make my whole family get one too.  I know this isn't a guarantee - I know how quickly viruses change - but it's the best that I can do at the present.
And for both of my pregnancies my OB said she's not going to tell me what to do, but she adamantly suggests everyone gets the flu shot, and has it in her office.

They recommend all pregnant women get one after the first trimester. I'm also due in April. 13 weeks in two weeks and I'll make an appointment soon for right about then.  I never get them unless pregnant but the alternative isn't worth the risk when pregnant.

You wouldn't want the flu pregnant though.  That would be so much worse than if you weren't.  I had one when I was pregnant.  They gave it to me at the OB's office.

  • I get one every year, and I have never had the flu.  I also work in a high school, and kids are disease-ridden.  I'm not taking chances.
  • I'm pretty adamant about getting them, along with J and now Wes.  J has bad asthma as well as his mom.  I don't pretend that I'm immune to it after my shot, but I'll happily reduce my chances with a shot.

Though, I'm in the camp of "it's your own personal decision" with respect to others.

  • Yup. I shake to many hands on a day to day basis to feel comfortable not getting one. Obviously not 100% but I like reducing my odds.

    Oh and the flu sucks.

H never gets one and I don't pressure him to, he is also lower risk just based on jobs. If he ever gets the flu.... Oh I cringe just thinking about it. It wouldn't be pretty.

  • I work in a hospital and am required to either get the shot, or wear a mask throughout flu season. I'll be getting the shot.

  • Interesting to see where people's thoughts lie on this.  I've never gotten one before but am considering this year since I'm working in a hospital (I'm a private contractor so I'm not required like hospital staff is.)  I know they were giving them out to staff members today but I have my brother's wedding next week and I'm scared of having a bad reaction to it... maybe after the wedding I'll do it.

  • I don't mind shots/vaccinations but I rarely get the flu so I usually don't get the shot.

  • I always got one when I worked retail. It was mandatory at the hospital. This year Alex and I will be getting them. Mainly because with all the stress of moving I don't want me/A to be sick ontop of everything else.
  • I usually never get them and I've been fine. However, I need to get one this year for my new job.
