Do you always read series books back to back?

Re: Do you always read series books back to back?

  • I don't normally read a series back-to-back unless it's a trilogy or something short.  I guess I feel like it's too much of a good thing.  And that way I can come back to it when I'm in a reading rut.

  • It depends on how long it is.  I read the Hunger Games and Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest trilogies back to back because they were short, quick reads and there were only three books in the trilogy.  However, I've been working on the Wheel of Time series for a few months now and am reading plenty of other stuff too, mostly because each book is around 700-900 pages and there are 14 books in the series,  Doing them all at once would be overwhelming.

  • It depends on the series.

    Yes, with a few exceptions:
    - series hasn't completed yet
    - individual books in the series are long (outlander)

    This exactly.
  • No, I get burnt out quickly. One or two of any series at a time is plenty for me. I have to break it up.

  • Almost always. The only exceptions are when the series isn't completed or if it's from the library and I'm not able to get it right away.
