So one of my close friends from when I lived in Kansas has always wanted children. She has two step children that she has raised as her own. Their mom isn't really in the picture. She also had two miscarriages in Sept of 2010 and April of 2011. Due to several factors including her age, fertility issues, smoking, ect, she probably won't ever have one of her own. I really hope I'm wrong. I haven't seen her in almost two years and I know my pregnancy and baby have been hard on her. She bailed on my baby shower and keeps saying she'll come visit but hasn't. I miss my friend.
Anyway, October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. I really want to get her something like an Origami Owl living locket but they are fairly expensive. Not that I mind shelling out the cash for such a gift. I still might but due to the move I'm trying to watch funds. It has to be small due to shipping fees. Does anyone have any other ideas? Or is this even a good idea?
Re: Gift giving advice
She loves shows like True Blood, Supernatural, and Buffy. Her stepdaughter just went to college and her husband is away on work. I'm not sure for how long. She says they are hoping to move to South Dakota next year. Or Montana.
I've sent her flowers a few times in the last couple of years. A month or so ago I sent a hand written note in the mail to let her know I'm thinking of her. Last year I sent her a pot of mums in October. I bought her a journal a few years back but I have no clue if she ever used it or what. I know she loved the artwork on the front so I know she kept it but not sure if she actually used it.
