Has anyone else noticed an influx of television commercials for books? Maybe I never noticed before or maybe it's the certain channels I'm watching, but I am seeing more and more of them. And I don't understand the newest James Patterson commercial. Since 2006, one out of every 17 books sold is a James Patterson books and he thinks he needs to dress up like a pirate and push his new children's book?
I guess I don't see the point. The commercials I've seen have been much less compelling than most book trailers found on YouTube. Maybe spending most of their budget on placement and not content? I think if you're not into that author or genre, a commercial is not going to make you buy it. And if you are into that author or genre, odds are you already know about the book release.
Just wondering, have you ever been compelled to buy a book from a TV commercial?
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.
