NBR: Wacky Wednesday Poll

Dang it, I almost forgot again. I fail when I am sick.

1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?)
2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?

    1) Radio TV Film
    2) Hmmm... Maybe Voice at Juilliard. I can't sing for shit, but I've always wished I could! Pretty much anything at Juilliard would be awesome.

  • 1) My undergrad was marine biology
    2) My goal in life is to be a full time student for the rest of my days, racking up degree after degree that I never have any intention of using.  I think I might start with meteorology.  Or civil engineering.  Because I think weather and building shit is cool.  Or maybe landscape planning or some kind of horticultural something or other.  Where I went would likely depend on what degree I was working on.  Though, if I decided to matriculate for the rest of my days, I suppose it would be nice to do it all in one place.
  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?) Undergraduate in English, MLIS in Library Science

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?  I'd go back and finish my Psychology degree and get a Master's in Counseling

    1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?)
International Business & History, minored in finance

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?

No idea, I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up so that doesn't help things.
Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?)

I majored in Linguistics, wanted to be an interpreter for deaf and hard of hearing.  But I called it quits half way through.

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?

I would love/still want to get a degree to be an esthetician.  I want to have a career in skin care and make up so bad!
  • 1) Communications, minored in Sociology and Religious Studies.

    2) If I could do life over, I would have majored in computer science/engineering and been a programmer.  I don't think I care about it badly enough to spend the money going back to school, but that would be my ideal (but realistic) career.

  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?)
Major in Communications/Advertising, Minor in American Studies

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?
I wanted to double major in theater, but I couldn't handle the competitiveness of the theater program. So had my delicate sensibilities not been an issue, I would have majored in theater.

I'm getting my MFA in fiction writing for children/YA right now, so that's sort of my dream degree right there.

  • 1) I majored in Early Childhood Education first, but the structure of the curriculum of local schools made me kind of angry, so I dropped it.  Then I majored in Journalism but decided that's not what I wanted to do, so my last major was Anthropology.  I never finished  :(

    2) I would go to culinary school I think, maybe take some business classes too if I could.  Or major in theatre.  Or do all three and my husband and I would open a dinner theatre.  That'd be awesome.

  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?) Double major in English and Elementary Ed

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?  Realistically, I'd double major in English and Psychology and get a Master's in Counseling and throw a Spanish minor in there too.  If I had more of a math and science brain though, I'd get a degree in marine biology and work with dolphins.

I have no desire to ever return to school again but if I could just be given a degree and the knowledge that comes with it I think I would do an English degree and work towards some sort of writing/editing career.

  • 1. What did you major in? I have a BS in Biology, a BS in Biology/General Science Secondary Education, and a BS in Nursing.

    2. What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? Honestly, I am pretty happy with my decision to be a nurse. Eventually, I will probably go back to school to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. However, if I had as much money and smarts as I needed, I would definitely go to Harvard and get an MPH.

  • 1. I have a degree in Geology.
    2. I absolutely loved my major, but I'm not using it. If I could, I would get a PhD or at least a Master's and possibly teach.

Some days I also have a crazy fantasy of going back to do something medical related, like physical therapy or pharmacy...but then I remember I'm bad at chemistry, lol. That and I could never afford it. I don't know, maybe I'll figure it out one day.

I would go back to be a teacher. Or study history and literature.
  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?) When I first went to college right out of high school I majored in Broadcast Journalism, decided I didn't like that (turns out I don't like doing tough interviews and would like to just do the fluff/human interest stuff). Then I switched to French (the only other thing I knew and loved... because when you're 20 that's all that matters, right?).

When I went back 2 years ago to finish my degree, I decided on Business Administration with an HR Concentration (because it's what my company will pay for). I'll graduate in May (finally!).

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? I like my program fine and I'll probably get my Masters in Instructional Design when I finish this up. If I could pick anything and start over, though, I think I'd enjoy law school.

  • 1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?) As an undergrad I majored in music and minored in theatre.  In grad school I studied historic preservation.

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? MLIS would be nice, I'd also like to gt an MFA possibly.  Honestly, if money and time were no object, I'd be like Flynn from the The Librarian TV movies  and have 23 degrees.  I love learning!  As for where, Oxford.
