NBR: Wacky Wednesday Poll

Re: NBR: Wacky Wednesday Poll

  • 1) Nursing
    2) I wish I had gone to veterinary school. I grew up on a farm and my dad tried to talk me into being a large animal vet for years. I insisted that I wanted to help people. The longer I take care of people who refuse to take care of themselves and don't want help (Oh you're 600lbs and smoke a pack a day and are shocked to hear that you probably won't live to be 50? Let me feel sorry for you), the more I wish I worked with animals. I love my dog and cats and miss being around horses and cows.

  • 1) BM in Music Performance (Viola specific)

    2) Given the fact that I'm currently working on my doctorate I think I'm good for degrees. There are a ton of subjects I'd love to study but none that I would ever want to go back and get a degree for!
  • 1) What did you major in?
I majored in Psychology and am currently working on a Masters degree in counseling/therapy.

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object?
Oh man. I love what I'm going into. I'd love to get a PhD in it though. I would have loved to go for business though because I would love to own my bookstore. But...economy and such.

  • 1) What did you major in? Physics, B.S.
    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? I would also be an infinite college student.  I'd love to attend some university in a cool semi-remote college town, like in Maine or Montana or Idaho or New Hampshire.

  • 1) What did you major in? I'm currently a business major. My original college diploma was in Police Sciences (What's that called south of the border? An Associates Degree, I think?)
    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? I've always wanted to get my MBA and also go to law school. I'd be happy doing it at my current university as it's top rated from both programs. I'd also like to study religion abroad.

    1) What did you major in? (Or, if you don't have a degree, what would you have majored in?) Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance

    2) What would you get a degree in (and where) if money and your existing brain power/creativity were no object? I WILL go back one day to get my MBA.  Non-realistically, I would want some kind of counseling degree so I could go into substance abuse counseling.
@packfan20 - You Finance types baffle me. I'm taking finance right now and I want to scratch my eyeballs out 99% of the time (though it's not as bad as the two stats classes I've had to take).

@AshleyT121 If you gave me shapes and geometry, I would fail miserably.  Science?  Don't understand it.  But numbers, no problem!  Wish I could help you out!

  • 1. Computer Science
    2. I would love to go back and get a geology degree @SacGeoLover! I took a few courses as my lab science electives and loved it. And I actually spent the last six years working on geology software, so I got to take some more classes as background for work.

If I won the kerbillion dollar Powerball, I would get my PhD in Immunology.
@MrsC7 One of my good friends is getting a PhD in immunology right now! She's doing it at the University of Oslo, so it's kind of free (aside from the cost of living). I'm extremely jealous of her free university language courses! But not so jealous of all the time she has to spend in the lab.

At the time of my aborted education I was working a duel major of Film (directing) and Biology with a Minor in Physics. I wanted to be a high school science teacher who mad movies on my weekends and during the summer.

  • 1. Undergrad Ecology - Grad Environmental and Natural Resource Policy.

    2. Knowing what I know now, I'd have gone for engineering or master planning instead.  I work with engineers and planners on a daily basis, and do the same stuff they do, but get less credit because I have the wrong letters after my name.  It's just that "engineering" sounded so complicated, and 'environmental engineering' was just beginning to become a real thing that wasn't grouped in with dorks building robots, and I just wanted to go scuba diving and study animals.

If I REALLY started all over again, I'd become a vet.

I got caught in this too. I thought engineering would be soooo hard and geological engineers were just popping up on my radar. It didn't really cross my mind that that might be a better route to the same job. And they get paid more.

  • This question has totally depressed me.

    1. English Literature is what I would have majored in
    2. English Lit is my dream degree and profession. I would love a job where I did nothing but talk about books all day.
