Beer drinkers?

I'm just starting to get into drinking beer. I used to hate it but I'm starting to acquire a taste.

What is your favorite? I need some ideas to try.

  • I like simple.  Miller Lite or Coors Lite.
  • I've really started to like sours like New Belgium's La Terroir and La Folie. Oktoberfest is also delicious. I'm partial to Boulevard's Tank 7 (a farm house ale) and 80 Acre (a dry hopped wheat). Goose Island's Matilda and Sofie are also delicous!

These!! I didn't like beers either, but I love me some stouts now. I love Rogue Chocolate Stout and Oatmeal Stout. I just had the most delicious Creme Brulee stout but I'm blanking on the brewer's name.

DH just got a pumpkin spice ale and an IPA from a local brewery that were pretty tasty too. I never new IPAs were so super citrusy!

  • Did somebody say beer? I love beer! I've spent a lot of time in Belgium and they have over 600 different kinds of beers - many local that you won't ever see here. But, if you have a good distributor, they might get some good imported stuff from there.

Some of the ones you can find pretty easily though: Duvel, Delerium Tremens, Leffe, Hoegaarden, and if it's a really good distro, they should have Kwak

The Belgians say that Kwak has aphrodisiac properties, btw, so drink up, ladies!

  • Anyone try Red's Apple Ale or Angry Orchard? I'd love to try them, but I hate to spend the money and not like it. Cheapo ;)

If you like 'fruity' beer - try Kopperberg cider (not sure if I spelled it right). They make pear, raspberry, and apple flavored cider and it is soooooo good.

Also, try Belle Vue Kriek or Lindmans (spelling) Kriek beer....they are Belgian cherry beers and also very good.....
  • My turn!! :) I hope it's ok if I jump in...
I love beer. DH and I actually named our wedding tables after our favorite beers. We really don't drink much, but both enjoy a good brew.  My all time always favorite is Allagash White.  Its a VT beer but you can sometimes find it on tap at a good pub kind of place. Another one I like a lot is Shiner Bock. It's easier to find at liquor stores than Allagash. Magic Hat, Leinenkugel (Summer Shandy is my fave) and Sam Seasonals are always good too. As you try more beers you'll get a better idea of what you like. I can also agree with @LuckyAngel07 on the vanilla porter too. They're a little heavy to me but I like them in the winter.

  • You know what is actually cool, is the fact that the US has all these neat little craft breweries popping up all over....before, there weren't a whole lot of choices here, but now there's tons and it keeps growing. I´m actually going away this weekend to Cape Cod, and I can't wait to try the local brews up there....

Framboise was the first type of beer I actually enjoyed! Hahaha. Probably because it tastes so much more like a wine cooler than a beer, but sounds so much better than buying wine coolers!
