Thursday Randoms

I'm wearing heels for the first time since I was too pregnant to wear them. I'm regretting the choice this morning. I know it will get easier and maybe the shoes themselves were the poor choice, but it's 9:45 and MY FEET HURT. I've just have to push through until my feet remember how awesome heels are.

Tomorrow is A's birthday and I'm totally bummed that this will be the first (hopefully only) one we do not spend together.

Tonight is the last class for my Financial Management class. Next week is fall break so there's no school (ZOMG YAY) and the following week I start another class but it's on Monday nights so there's no more of this work until midnight in the middle of the week and get up the next morning to work at 8 so I can make it to night class nonsense. One more semester after this is done. One.

I learned last night just how inept my husband is in the kitchen. I asked him to help me prepare dinner so I could get out the door in time for a 6:30 class at the gym.

He was responsible for boiling the Orzo and broiling the fish.

1. He cooked the orzo like rice instead of the pasta that it is. I was a big clump of stuck together with no water left in the pan when he was done (I had to do over). And this is after me telling him to cook it just like pasta only for a shorter time because it is small. It would have been nice if he actually listened to me the 5 times I said it.

2. Instead of broiling the salmon he baked it a 350 degrees and it wasn't ready in time.

I told him that he has been spoiled by me for too long and from now on to re-aquaint him with the workings of the kitchen, he will be responsible for cooking dinner one night a week.

Oh I also have my audition for the company Christmas program today at 1 and I only kind of know my song. I've been in it the last 5 years, though, so I'm banking on the organizers knowing I'll have it together by the time the program happens. I'm good with the melody but since I only picked the song yesterday still working on lyrics, haha.

Frustrating! (But it made me laugh... especially after that photo posted earlier this week of the half-peeled potatoes!)

Luckily MH is the main cook in our family.

I hear you. I tried wearing heels the other day since it's been a year since alien foot and no go. I almost twisted my ankle again and I was in so much pain.

DH & I did long distance for a couple of years so I understand where you're coming from. Crossing my fingers this is the only one you guys are apart for.

I have never gotten to this point before. It's why I wear flats.

I used to almost exclusively wear heels. It started because, as you know, I'm a shorty and I was too lazy to hem my pants. Heels fit perfectly with them. Then it just stuck. However, I'm wearing heels again because I just bought new pants and haven't had a chance to hem them yet.

I'm convinced DH puts the TP roll on the spool upside down just to vex me.

Also, my eldest cat (the gray one) LOVES the fishies app I put on my kindle. He can watch for minutes on end.

I think DH & I finally agreed on a first name. Now we just need to agree on her middle name. Originally, our first born was going to have N as the first letter of the middle name but we like our boy's name with that letter and if we have two, we don't want them to have the same initials.

A co-worker keeps coming in my office, taking a tissue, and then running out with a devious smile on her face. I'm slapping her hand the next time it happens.

Last time I said to her, "The tissues are bought by the company and in the closet, why don't you go get your own box?" If that doesn't do the trick, I am slapping her hand.

Last week, I transferred a call to a coworker about a deposition we have scheduled because I was SURE she was the one who was handling it. She (the bitch) sent it right back to me and said she had nothing to do with it. I was really apologetic because I felt like it looked like I was just handing off the work to her. She barely acknowledged my apology.

I went through the rounds and did all the work to prep the depo. This morning she comes to me and said "You know that, I think you were right. I did already do all the work to prep this depo. I hope you didn't waste too much time on it."

So yeah, I'm pissed off this morning.

My husband and I have a deal that the Friday after thanksgiving I get to decorate for Christmas. It's seriously my favorite Friday of the year every year.
Because thanksgiving falls so late in November this year, I get to decorate a few days early. Everything but the tree.
This makes me stupid happy.
He's not a fan of decorating at all and it's usually such a struggle to get him to even discuss it, but I know he just wants to make me as happy as possible this year.
But I get why he hates it. He works on The Nutcracker every year and is pretty Christmased out by Thanksgiving.
My phone autocorrected to Buttcracker.
That was a lot of randoms.

I'm kind of sad about some friends who came to Wes's birthday party last weekend. I'm waffling on the line of whether or not I'm being ridiculous or not, and I might be falling a little over the line to ridiculous. Still, I'm bummed.

I'm sure your shoes are cute though!

I felt that way about earrings after going back to work. I think the holes were starting to close after not wearing earrings everyday for a couple of months. It hurt to put more than a light post in!

My body lost the battle against this cold and I am officially sick. My head feels like it weighs about 600 pounds and I sound like a little kid with my sniffles and coughs. I really, really, really want to find somewhere to lay my head down for a couple minutes.

I have an mid-term exam next week that I am absolutely terrified for. I hate Finance.

I just got good news (relatively speaking) from my mechanic. I was prepared for a bill of about $1000 and it's less than $200! SWEET!

I'm back in the office after an amazing anniversary trip with DH and I'm not quite at 100% focus. I think everyone understands, but I feel bad. I just want to be at home cozy with the pups, reading and doing random stuff around the house.

I hate planning the holidays with my dysfunctional divorced parents. It's like dealing with a couple of five year olds. I just wish I could avoid holidays with them (especially my dad).

My officemate is going to Ireland next week. I just drew her a picture of a 4 leaf clover on a post it for her to see when she gets in the office.

It's "chilly" for the first time today, and I just want to go home and snuggle up with my dogs and a book. And a pumpkin spiced latte (even though I just learned how bad they really are.)

My family with their drama and A's family with their neediness make me HATE the holidays. I tried convincing him to stay at school to study for his finals and I would go up and read on the couch. I haven't had much success but it was worth a shot.
