I'm late to the party, but I am on team "Not a Jerk," but this is also coming from someone who probably will not spend Turkey Day with ILs if SIL and BIL are bringing their newborn. It's just too hard.

I hope everything goes well tonight! I'm glad they were willing to tell you to make you feel more comfortable. Kudos to your brother and his wife! (Can they give my ILs tips?)

I don't think you're a jerk, honey. You're being sensitive to your feelings as well as being sensitive to their gender reveal. You don't want to have an emotional reaction that may cloud their moment and that is okay.

So, just an update... it went really well. I had a brief moment of "ugh" but it passed and I was able to enjoy the evening. As I was leaving, I hugged my SIL and told her again how much I appreciated her giving me a head's up. It went well though! My mom got to cut into the cake and was so excited! She forgot to flop the piece down so by the time she stopped with the "OH YAY!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is great!!" my dad was all "DUDE, Flop the piece over so I can see what it is!!" It was funny. It's still super top secret so in the RARE chance that someone who knows them is on here.. I'm very sorry.. please act surprised and dont' you DARE tell them you already know...but...

Let's just say, it has a kickstand...
