I'm really scared to read Allegiant... (NS obvs)

Re: I'm really scared to read Allegiant... (NS obvs)

  • I was bad.  I read a few very spoilerific reviews.  I now know 100% that I will not be wasting my time on this book.  #2 was such a disappointment.  #3 would be even worse now that I know what happens.  So I will save money and time!

I am now also pretending that Divergent is just one book - no series.

  • I finished last night and am still processing.

I think if you are invested in the series you have to read it. Regardless of if you like it or not I think it makes sense and gave me a feeling of closure. Though of course I still want more Four!

I'm overall very happy with it and will actually probably listen to the audio as soon as I finish my current audio because I know there is a ton I missed.
  • I haven't read all the responses to this, but I have the same fear.  I'm not quite halfway through. So far, I'm not loving it like the others.

  • This is my feeling too, I've been debating about spending my birthday money on the trilogy.  I felt very meh about the second book and I hoped this would be amazing but this post didn't make me feel better.

I agree with you. Though I'm not happy with the ending, it makes sense.

  • Well, I definitely think you should read it.  Building it up as a disappointment in your head isn't going to help you enjoy it, that's for certain.

I guess I'm in the minority. I liked Allegiant.  It was a quick and easy read. I was quite entertained. The ending wasn't what I had hoped, but then it was Veronica's vision, not my own, and that's why she gets paid the big bucks.  I thought there were some good twists. I enjoyed the pretty obvious parallels to prejudices we have in our society, kinda made me think about things I see and hear in real life.

If you can't keep characters straight, then go read the wikipedia on Insurgent & Divergent.  They both have a good character synopsis.

  • I hope to finish tonight or tomorrow morning. I am such a slow reader! I am on 375. I have mixed feelings right now and I am very nervous about the ending. I'm really trying not to spoil myself but it's really tough!

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I have Allegiant but I decided to re-read books 1 & 2.  Otherwise, I would have been way too confused after the running around in Book 2.

@pinkybooklover09   This makes me so sad for you. I am going to start the campaign to push you to read it anyway though. The way things unfold make so much sense to me.
