Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • Last night I started Raising Jake by Charlie Carillo. I'm only a few chapters in, but I like it so far.

I've already met my goal this year. Now I'm just going to see how many books I read by the end of the year. This is #29.

  • I love, love, love my school librarian.  I was 38th on the list at the public library for Allegiant, and yesterday she handed me a copy to read.  I'm also listening to The Rose Garden.
  • I'm reading Allegiant. It's alright so far, I'm only 34% of the way in. It's number 49 for the year.

  • I am listening to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I'm not sure about it yet, I'm about 40% complete and the main character is a bit annoying.

I started Allegiant last night but didn't get very far.

I'm also reading The Lemon Meringue Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke because I needed something light in between some heavy reads.

These are #66, 67 and 68 for the year. My goal is 75.

  • I'm almost done with Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I'm reading an egalley of The Troop and am maybe 50% done.

I met my goal a couple of weeks ago, so I'm probably right around 80 now.

  • Reading: Surrender to Sultry - I haven't touched it all week and it's been KILLING me. I plan to finish it on Sunday.

Listening to: A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks. I just started so I don't have an opinion yet.

No way! That's one of my favourites! I should go dig up my copy at my parent's and read it.

  • I am plugging my way through Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition by Daniel Okrent.  I am only at 40% and I feel like I have been reading it forever.  It is sooooooo slow, drawn out, and rather boring.  The book is about as dry as Prohibition should have been.

I also started Death of the Adversary by Hans Keilson last night.  I have only read one chapter so far so I am not sure if I like it yet.
    90 books in 2015?

  • I'm listening to The Demon King, and I'm on disc 9 of 13, so about 80% done.  It's good.  Not awesome and I don't love it, but I'm enjoying it.  I know a few people said that the series improves as you keep reading, so I'm satisfied.  Oh, and I no longer think it feel like young YA, now its just YA.

I'm reading The Fiery Cross.  I just started it Sunday night, so I haven't read much.  I expect that I'll be reading this one for at least a month, maybe more.

These are #s 25 and 26 for the year, which is pretty good for me!  No goals and no challenges, though.
  • I just finished The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley last night (#48/60). I started listening to The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton this morning, and I plan to start reading A Shot of Sultry tonight!

  • I am half way through Under the Dome.  I will finish it this weekend if it kills me.  It is number 134 for the year.  I am really hoping that the ending makes it all worth while.
  • The Exiled Queen by Cinda Williams Chima. I am really enjoying it.

The Elite by Kiera Cass. Just started, so no opinion yet.

These are #63 and 64 for the year. My goal is 75

  • I started reading ScreamFree Parenting, The Revolutionary Approach to Raising Your Kids by Keeping Your Cool by Hal Edward Runkel. It will be #83 for the year. It's not necessarily about screaming at your kids, but just remaining calm when they push your buttons. I like it so far, although I think it would be even more helpful for someone with older kids. BTW, I have only yelled at my son once and it freaked me out. I got yelled at a lot when I was kid and don't want to repeat this pattern, so that is why I picked this up.

I will probably start Bold Tricks by Karina Halle tonight.

They are both AWESOME!!! Both are for FBC.

Next week I am looking forward to hope fully starting a Tom Clancy novel over the weekend.

This is on my shelf right now, waiting to be read. Sounds like it might stay there just a bit longer.

I'm in the middle of 6 books right now. I'm having some serious book ADD this month. I'm reading Salem's Lot, Columbine, Orlando, Crucial Confrontations, Anna Karenina, and Havana Nocturne: How the Mob Owned Cuba and then Lost it to the Revolution. DH is out of town for a few days next week so I'm hoping I can get caught up and through at least two of them.

  • I'm still listening to Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. The first third didn't really grab me but I'm about 50% done and I'm enjoying it. I started The Spy Who Loved: The Secrets and Lives of Christine Granville by Clare Mulley, the first chapter was really boring, I'm hoping it will pick up. I'm about 20 pages away from finishing Quiet by Susan Cain and I'm totally loving it. Everyone should read this book. They are numbers 143-145 for the year and I'm hoping to fit two of them into FBC.
