s/o Seasonal Decorating - Inflatables

Re: s/o Seasonal Decorating - Inflatables

  • Hideous.

  • Very tacky, some more so than others! But my 3 year old loves them. On the way home from daycare we pass a house that has a tall inflatable witch whose eyes glow red and he loves it. His daycare also puts them up for Christmas, all year he still asks me "where is Santa Mickey" He will be so psyched when he comes back. So for the kids I can see how they are cool, but no they will not be going in my yard.

  • What are the monkeys doing on that ark? All I can say is the one on top looks VERY happy.

  • Definitely not going up in my yard, but I think they are funny to look it in other's!

  • In my yard, not a chance.  In the yard of someone else (preferably not in my neighborhood) I like to look.  They're fun for someone else to have and kids love them.  I'm unopposed to any and all Christmas cheer, but those are definitely the kind of cheer I like to see in other people's yards.

Ditto @julie37619.  It's the kind of spectacle I like taking my family to gawk at, but I don't want to live next to it!

  • What a waste of electricity.

  • I'm not a fan. Our neighbors have one that's a snowman that waves that's only like 3 feet tall and that one I don't mind so much since it's little, but the dogs think it's the devil incarnate. We have to walk them on the other side of the street to avoid some sort of holiday slaughter and potential electrocution.

  • I would never buy one or put one up because I don't like the look of them, but I don't mind if other people have them.

  • I think it depends. I don't hate them. In fact I think some of the halloween ones and some of the smaller ones are cute. I also like. Some of the ones that look like snow globes. I think the big ones are fine if they are in front of large buildings like businesses or something but tacky like in front of a small brick ranch. And even the smaller ones it really depends on the size proportional to your house, etc. and you should never ever have more than 1. Ever. The houses that have like 30 are seriously tacky. That being said we don't have any and probably never will.

  • I think it's weird to put them in front of a house, because they remind me of advertising.

I always think of those things they used to put in car sales lots to draw attention and distinguish the sale lot from a parking area.
