Do you have set sides of the bed?

Do you always sleep on the same side?  Do you share blankets?

Re: Do you have set sides of the bed?

  • Yes and yes. I don't particularly care one way or the other about sides of the bed cuz I can sleep wherever, whenever (it's a gift). DH, though, would lose his damn mind if I got in on the "wrong" side. It's cool though. I have things I obsess about too. :P

  • I have "my side" and DH sleeps diagonal or on me... And we share blankets until DH rolls and takes them.

Hahahah! I was just thinking about this when I ran up to the bedroom to get my computer charger. My side of the bed is totally trashed, and DH's is so nice and neat. At home we always sleep on the same side of the bed, but it's more my issue than his.

I have to sleep near a door. I think I was traumatized by a sleepover when I was a kid. Someone jokingly said, "Well, if there's a fire, Poppies won't make it. She's the farthest from the door." I've had to sleep near the door since then. For example, I can't sleep near the window in a hotel room; I have to be on the side closest to the door.

ETA: About the blankets...We share sheets and a comforter, but DH has to have a soft blanket on him when he falls asleep. He just mindlessly rubs the edge of the blanket. He's done it since he was a baby. It sounds super lame and juvenile, but it's cute. I promise.

  • Yeah. For me it is mostly because we each have a night stand full of stuff that is ours but DH insists on a certain side of the bed no matter where we are (like in a guest room or a hotel). We share blankets but I have my own little blankie to wrap myself up in.

  • Yes. DH is always closest to the door. How else would he protect me from an intruder? Once he leaves in the morning I go diagonal with my head on his side. I have a blanket my grandma made me that I have to have. We share a sheet and I usually kick the comforter off because I get too hot.
If the bed moves, so do we, as long as he is closest to the door.
  • I'm always on whatever side the beside table is on so I can find my glasses in the morning without wandering around half blind or crawling over DH.  Separate blankets.

Amen to that!  I can't count the number of times I've had to yell in his ear because I literally can't move and can't find a limb to 'nicely wake him up'.  He swears he doesn't sleep on top of me, but I have proof!

And I second what blueeyedblossom said as well with the intruder.  Hubby is an officer and he can only protect me if the intruder comes to him first. :)

  • Now that I'm thinking about it, I've always, my entire life, slept on the left side, (my left when I'm in the bed, right if you're standing looking at it) which has always coincided with being nearest the door. Even when my sister and I had separate beds, mine was on the left and nearest the door. So yes, we definitely have our own sides.

And we share bedding. If anyone's getting hot and ditching covers, it's DH. I'm more likely to worm my way closer to him at night to get toastier.

  • We have sides- I sleep on my side, and he sleeps on.. My side. Not kidding. I sleep on the left, and he sleeps left/middle. There is an entire half of the bed for the dog.

But he insists on being 'the meat'.

So all 3 of us end up on the left. Makes sharing a blanket pretty easy!

  • We definitely have sides of the bed. But we never go to bed at the same time, so I always fall asleep on his side and he wakes me up in the middle of the night to move over to my side. No sharing blankets in our house. I have a soft fuzzy one and he uses a lighter weight comforter.
  • Yes to both.
Wherever we are 99% of the time it's the same sides.
DH usually kicks the covers off so we share but he doesn't really use them.

  • Yes and yes, but not necessarily in purpose for the side of the bed. It started as a joke and we just randomly usually end up on "our" side even at a hotel. But we can switch sides, it just takes me a couple nights to get my fetal position in the right direction so that I don't knee DH in the junk.

This is us. DH will flip a lid if he's not on his side, whether it be at home or a hotel. He tried to explain his reasoning before, something about sleeping on a certain side so we aren't facing each other and breathing on each other at night or something...idk. Lol

  • Oh and yes we share blankets. We don't use the sheet, except the one we sleep on, because DH doesn't like them. So we sleep under a fleece blanket and the comforter.

DH is notorious for ripping the blankets off of me just to kick them down to the bottom of the bed. Grrrr...

We have our own sides and separate blankets. We tried one blanket for a while but I like to roll mine up like a sleeping bag in the middle of the night. DH woke up freezing too many times and got his own blanket. We do have one large decorative blanket that goes over both our comforters so it looks nice.
