Just for fun - how do you feel about Black Friday?

  • See that's your problem. You're watching college football. Might I recommend the Green Bay Packers? (although wait a few weeks til our quarterback is back)
  • I'm an artsy person too, but I really only watch our team's football games and superboal.  Our team went from being the worst last year to the best right now.  You should watch the cheifs against the broncos on sunday night.  we are 9-0 right now and I honestly can't believe it.

  • Ducktale, if I was a Green Bay fan my mother's family would ostracize me... I'm afraid they are Vikings fans, and while I don't know much about it (nor do I really care), something I was taught from birth is Vikings=Good; Green Bay=Bad   :)

They live in Wisconsin now, which I think is kind of ironic.  Enemy territory and all that.

It's funny how intense college football is down here.  Seriously, there was a time in undergrad when Vandy played LSU and this hoard of LSU fans showed up on our campus on a Wednesday for a Saturday game.  They literally pitched tents on our quads.  We were all so confused, because Vandy students are the work hard, play hard type - so nobody really pays attention to football until game day.  The most interesting part of that game happened in the third quarter: I watched a very very drunk LSU fan slip and fall in the Vandy section in front of a bunch of alums.  He we so drunk he didn't put his hands out to catch himself, and he hit the bridge of his nose on the edge of those metal stairs that stadiums have. He was groaning, blood was everywhere, etc.  Immediately, about 20 doctors/nurses stood up and rushed over to him to put his nose back in place.

Lesson: if you are going to break something at a football game, try to arrange to do it at Vandy's stadium.  Or perhaps Notre Dame's.

Most people prefer college sports over pro sports in this area, with the exception of baseball.  I admit, I do enjoy watching the Braves now and then.  All in all, though, sports are just mildly interesting for me.  It's kind of like golf... I like it ok, but I lose interest around hole 7.

  • I LOVE black Friday. I always go shopping, even if it's just to hit up Walgreens for detergent and Target for a new set of sheets. I do like ordering online Thanksgiving Day for those stores that allow it, but I have fun shopping black Friday. I'm not too sure about all these stores opening up now on Thanksgiving itself, but I will probably be out that evening with my sister helping her get stuff for her new house.
I also used to love working Black Friday (I know I may be weird) but when I worked retail we always made it fun, had a pot luck breakfast/lunch/dinner/whatever weird shift you were working. I would even go shopping before I had to report to work for my shift, which made for a crazy long day.

  • I thought for sure when I saw @Vikingsfan71713 commented that we were going to get some football trash talking going.
  • Me too!  But she did love my post, so I'll take it :)

  • Before kids, I would go and hang out with my mom, aunts and cousins and shop. Now that I have 2 kids, I might meet them for lunch but not plan on anything else, lol. I use Amazon Prime (shared for free from my mom) and am smart with money all year, so if I spend a little more *not* black Friday shopping, I'm okay with that.
  • I have nothing against Black Friday (except the stores that are open on Thanksgiving), but I have never been nor will I probably ever go. I'm not brave enough to wake up super early and then try and shop with a million other people. The stress is not worth the savings for me!

just be like me and don't go out there until 11am :)  most crowds are gone by then and the things I've wanted from the ads are still in stock.
