Thursday Randoms

Let's start early.

I made ice cream last night and I'm going to again tonight.  Both are beer ice creams for a contest (friendly wager between friends) on who can make the best one.  I tasted the custard last night and it was DELISH.  She's doing a mint chocolate stout one and I'm doing a porter and pumpkin.

Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I want to preface this by saying that I work in a pretty conservative workplace.

I got so annoyed at my H this morning.  He burst out laughing when I walked out of our bedroom and I couldn't understand why.  He said, "It's the way you're dressed.  You look so conservative and it's so not you."

    I was highly annoyed.

  • I'm really irritated at my school's financial department. I use student loans and asked for the full amount for each semester to be put aside once the loan came through and they did. They assured me everything was fine and that I was covered through the rest of the year before graduation.

Last summer they said I had money left over from the loan, which they gave me in a check. They assured me all the money was put aside and this was just "leftovers". I used it to pay off doctor's bills from when I was really sick the year before and to help my sisters get caught up on rent.

Now they're telling me the full amount was NOT put aside and I owe them $812 two weeks before Christmas.

This was more of a vent because now Christmas is basically not happening because we won't have much leftover to do anything and I really don't want to dip into our emergency funds because DH's work can be a little dangerous sometimes and we would need it if something happened.

  • I have been having a personal week from hell this week and I screwed up royally at work on Tuesday.  Not just once...but twice on the same thing.  My mind has been toast all week with other issues and I totally dropped the ball. I eventually fixed my screw up but I am lucky my boss is very understanding.

I just want to curl up in a ball and have someone wake me up when everything is all better with the world again.

And also I have been FREEZING all week.  I am practically sitting on my space heater with it blasting out heat on the highest setting and I still have goosebumps.  I hate being cold.

  • I put on my favorite black pants this morning and they were 2 inches above my anklebones!  I shrunk them in the wash.

The worst! I shrunk my favorite khakis last month and I'm still not over it. They were perfect.

  • I think I have an ear infection and I am pissed about it.

I spilled peanut butter on my pants while eating breakfast on the way to work.  I put it on toast so it was warm, creamy PB and it left a stain on these pants.  I'm most mad because now I can't hang them up and wear them again - I have to wash them.  I only wash my work pants like every 2-3 wears.

  • I had a glass of wine on Tuesday night and went to bed a couple hours later, then proceeded to have some insanely nutty dreams. I dreamt that my cat (yes, my cat) and I became zombies and that the other zombies were trying to teach us how to eat people. I freaked out and started hyperventilating, which in my dream sounded exaclty like zombie growling noises and scared me enough to wake me up. It was simultaneously terrifying and hilarious. Totally not drinking wine at night anymore...

Hugs! I hope next week is better. That's great your boss is so understanding.

My week at work has been similar. I did something royally stupid on Tuesday and have been dealing with it since. Luckily there aren't a lot of repercussions, but I just feel like a dummy. DH left again on Monday and my anxiety has been high. I just feel like my brain is a scrambled mess.

  • My birthday is the 26th of this month and I just received a package from my best friend and it's an amazing kimono that I've been wanting. She is just the best!
  • I've been waking up congested in the morning and I had mentioned to DH that I really needed to clean our dehumidifer so I can turn it on at night. I woke up this morning to find he had washed it out and refilled it & turned it on before coming to bed. He's really awesome sometimes :)

  • I received a Toys R Us eReceipt this morning in my gmail inbox. It was for a purchase made this morning with cash using my rewards card number. I am on hold with them right now, but I can't remember if I gave my Mom one of the cards. I think I am going to hang up. I tried calling her but she never turns her cell phone on!!!

  • I'm so annoyed with  myself.  Since my vacation this summer, I have managed to put on 6-7 lbs.  My husband says he can't tell, but I can tell.  Nothing fits right anymore and I feel disgusting.  Ugh!  Time to recommit to weight watchers (which I've done off and on for the past 8 years) because I know I am able to do it.  I just have to get into the right mind set.

Since they paid in cash, does it matter?  Even if it was a stranger, maybe the cashier keyed in their phone number wrong and it became yours.  For the stores that I don't have a rewards card at, but I know my mom/MIL/friend does, I'll give their phone number so at least somebody gets the points for it.

This is what my mom did. And, no, it didn't really matter that much since it was cash.

  • I watch a lot of kids randomly.  Drop ins, regulars.  All for people I know.  One of the mother's said yesterday that it was awesome that I was "Auntie" to more kids than anyone.
It made me sad.  I don't want to just be Auntie.

I don't think so. She doesn't have black hair. It's a mystery hair, which is even worse.

  • This morning I got up early (5am) for a run in the freezing cold (27 degrees). About half-way through the run, I tripped and fell flat. on. my. face. I didn't even get my hands out in front of me to break my fall. I literally heard my teeth hit the sidewalk. For one split second, I was thinking "I'm eating cement, and the sun isn't even up!" Fortunately, a busted lip and bruised kneecaps is all I ended up with.

  • At work we're running an outdated version of Internet Explorer that doesn't work with Pandora or other online streaming stations. We also can't download Spotify or even another browswer without an administrator password. I also cannot use my phone to stream in my department because of potential legal issues (camera on the phone in an environment with credit cards). My music library is such that a regular iPod would not be sufficient as I'd be listening to the same songs over and over.

So I went out and bought something like this:

    RadioShack® AM/FM Pocket Radio

And that's what I listen to music on at work. I feel awesomely 80s whenever I pull it out.

  • It is so unbelievably hot in this office right now, I might melt.

MH bought me the season's first carton of Candy Cane Fudge Crackle ice cream and I can't wait to go home and have a giant bowl. On second thought, screw the bowl.... I'll just eat it out of the carton.
