I'm still working my way through The Demon King.  I'm about 66% through but I find it way too easy to put down and ignore for a few days.
The first book isn't as exciting but the rest of the series is amazing. Don't give up.

I'm hoping to make good progress on it this weekend because I also have Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, Without You by Anthony Rapp and at least one other (can't remember which one) waiting for me at the library.. why do all the books seem to come in at the same time?!?

It's #41 of 30 for the year, clearly I need to put my 2014 goal back up to 50.

I'm listening to Allegiant. A friend let one of the spoilers slip, so I know what's coming. I've got a bunch to do around the  house this weekend so I'm hoping to finish it up. It'll be 63/65 for the year.

I also need to start Tasting Beer as preparation for the BJCP (beer judge certification program) classes DH and I are starting next week. The exam is Dec 14, and I'm getting pretty excited for it. It'll be 64/65 for the year. I'm almost there!

OH!  That one...the reluctant rec.  Yea, wait on that.  I need to reread the first one again to see if it's still as good as I remember.  I read it over a year ago.  My standards could have changed since then.

  • I'm reading Beautiful Disaster.  It's #41 for the year.  I'm really not enjoying it as much as I expected to.  I'm trying to withhold overall judgement though considering it's pretty highly rated and I'm not finished reading it yet.

  • The Secret of Happy Ever After, by Lucy Dillon. It's a random choice, but it's about a bookstore and a dog, so I had to pick it up. So far I'm enjoying it! It's #53 of my goal of 54.

  • Reading:
Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey-  Still loving this and I will definitely be reading more of her work.

Curiosities by Maggie Stiefvater, Tessa Gratton and Brenna Yovanoff. This is a really cool collection of shorts that these ladies wrote. They've also doodled comments and pictures in the margins.

    Listening to:
Stories a collection of short stories edited by Neil Gaiman since I'm working on a short story project. Some of the stories have been really good so far, some just so so. I loved the one Neil Gaiman wrote and I also liked Roddy Doyle's. I remember reading that he was JK Rowling's favorite author and I get why.

  • I'm reading Fifth Grave Past the Light.  I love this series because it's just fun reads.

I'm listening to Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and it's just okay.  The main character is a bit idiotic in her reactions to the things that are happening but I guess if she responded appropriately there wouldn't be any story.

Listening to The Fiery Cross and...  I'm about to stop.  Obviously I've gotten this far with the Outlander series, but I'm three CDs into this book and nothing has happened.  Am I going to be saddled with a plot anytime soon?  It's all very "I woke up, Jamie had to go to the bathroom, I changed a diaper, we had neighbor trouble, Roger buys some jewelry."  Kind of... boring.  Should I keep reading or skip right to the next book in the series?

Not really, lol.  This is by far the most boring book in the series.  It just slightly picks up like 400 pages in, but then it's still boring.  The best part of this book was the end, where I got to move on to ABOSAA.  A million times better if that helps.  Having said that, I feel like there's some stuff at the end you actually need (I can't remember for sure, the series is starting to blur), so I wouldn't skip the whole book.  You could probably fast forward a few hundred pages and not miss a whole lot though.
One of my favorite literary quotes ever is the last line of this book.  You need to read it to get to it.
I read this over the summer and it took me for.ev.er. to get through.  Like, seriously, it easily holds the title for the longest I've ever read a book.  It needed some serious editing, IMO.
