Re: FFFC

  • My H and I were feeling snarky and started discussing that we should make a FB post with a neg. HPT, a picture of my flat stomach, and my IUD u/s. After that the caption "nope, not pregnant, just adopting!" Payback for all the pee stick and u/s FB photos.

No worries, we are definitely not going to do that. I hope that we have more class than that. But the thought makes me giggle a little.

ETA: @islandmonkey I hope you feel better soon! Another confession is that I am considering going to see Catching Fire by myself this weekend. It's not like you actually talk to your friends in a movie anyway.
    First, thank you!

    Second, definitely go!

Third, I think that FB post would be awesome. Not bad at all. But maybe that's just me!

  • @Flamingo86 I've seen movies by myself before.

My boss's new boyfriend (well if you ask her he's not) keeps buying her stuff. First he sends flowers after their first night hanging out. Next he sends her flowers again with a gift card for Olive Garden, to get her nails done, and to her hair place. Today he brought her breakfast.

I confess I'm starting to think he's desperate. Or maybe my boss is a gold digger.

Haha glad you approve of the FB post. The thought is funny but I'm not as openly snarky as I'd like to think. I think I am going to refrain from publicly posting pictures of the piece of copper in my ute as well. Also, I want to promote adoption as a positive step in our lives and not come across as "poor us we're infertile so we'll adopt." Anyway, the thought still makes me smile a bit. :)

Maybe it is because I know you on here, I didn't take it as snarky or poor us, but more of a celebration of what is next for you. I'm super excited for you!

  • DH is going to a bar with a couple of his friends tonight and he will probably be gone from 8-12. I'm not that upset that I will be home alone on a Friday... I'm thinking I might just finish off the bottle of wine I have in the house, get nice and drunk, and when DH gets home end our dry spell...

My 2nd FFFC I have no GF that lives close enough to me that I would feel comfortable having them come up and drink with me and then drive home. I wish I knew people my age in my town...

@sewilson33 - Have fun tonight. I can't drive to you, but I'll drink with you from here :)

My FFC is that yesterday was CD1 and during dinner, I dropped a piece of corn on my shirt, started crying, and said, "This dinner is not made of chocolate. I just want chocolate for dinner." DH had to go out later for unrelated reasons, and when he came back he brought me flowers and FOUR BAGS of chocolate candy. We watched TV and I ate chocolate until I felt sick. Then I ate some more chocolate.

  • Apparently, we will all walk out of here tonight with a Turkey- a gift from the owner of the company.

My FFC  is that I'm thinking of 'forgetting' mine.

I mean, we have our annual Friends Thanksgiving tomorrow night, and H always pops a couple in our turkey fryer, but this one is frozen, so clearly not a good idea. We'll have to go get fresh ones for him to fry. We're going to my folks for Thanksgiving, so it's not like I need one for that, either (my mom's boss also gifts frozen turks).

My bonus FWP is that we'll have so many turkey leftovers from the two fried, and then regular Thanksgiving, that I'm sure we won't want to cook this turkey for a long while.

Maybe I'll just find somewhere to donate it.  Solve both problems at once!  (I don't even know of anywhere that will accept an actual turkey- Most want money, right? )

I'll start by saying my SIL isn't my favorite person for a variety of reasons. So SIL is pg and about 5 months or so. I was happy for them, but just thought they were waiting longer since she was getting her master's.  Anyways they already have a boy and they were hoping for a girl this time. Turns out they're having another boy. When she told us I was secretly happy.  She's also gained a ton of weight and is not carrying well at all, another thing I get enjoyment out of. I know I'm not a nice person for thinking that way. Sorry this ended up being so long.

Edits so it made more sense.

@zamboni00 - Did you know you can quick defrost a turkey in cold water? Fill a cooler with water and submerge. Change the water every 30 minutes or so. It usually works for me and it's fully defrosted in less than 4 hours.

ETA: I guess I've used small turkeys but it can still be done:

If you’re short on time, you can defrost a turkey much more quickly by submerging it in a sink full of cool water. Change the water several times during the defrosting to keep the water from getting too cold. According to the USDA, a 4- to 12-pound turkey will take two to six hours to defrost; a 12- to 16-pound turkey six to eight hours; a 16- to 20-pound turkey eight to 10 hours and a 20- to 24-pound turkey 10 to 12 hours.

    Anniversary

  • I throw away or donate most of the presents given to me by my SIL, MIL and SIL's cats (no, I'm not kidding). It's useless poor quality shit that is either for children or ridiculous articles of clothing. I used to hold on to it, now it just goes out and I don't care or feel badly about.
