edited November 2013 in GP Moms

Well, answers are still forthcoming.

My HCG is 2354. ETA: This seems low according to results when Googling levels at this point in pregnancy...

My progesterone is only 1.7.

They're calling in a Rx for progesterone for me to take, since low progesterone might be what's causing my bleeding. I still feel like it's a miscarriage though. The one and only symptom I've had for this pregnancy has been sore boobs, and they haven't been at all sore the last 3 days.

I'm supposed to take the progesterone twice a day and go back Monday to get my HCG and progesterone checked again. I won't have any answers until I get those numbers back and see if the HCG went up or down.

How the hell am I supposed to go to Thanksgiving with DH's family tomorrow and act like everything's fine?? This not knowing anything for certain SHIT is killing me right now!!

Re: Udate - Lab Results

  • I am sorry. This is such poor timing with the holiday. I know other ladies on here have had bleeding because of low progesterone. I hope the progesterone meds help and that your numbers are up on Monday. That is a nice high number though! Thinking of you and huge huge HUGS to get you through thisweekend!

Definitely stay away from doctor google! Your hcg numbers still seem pretty high, at least IMO. As for the sore boobs/other symptoms. They come and go all the time, completely normal. And even if it was a miscarriage, I wouldn't think that would be the reason your boobs don't hurt anymore because you do still have a lot of hcg.

I'm so sorry you're goin through this crazy limbo right now. Ill continue to send T&Ps for you, your H and baby. Big hugs!!

  • your HCG number is still pretty high and although your progesterone numbers are low hopefully the supplements help and thats the reasoning for the bleeding.  I'm still keeping everything crossed for you!

also its the progesterone that makes your boobs hurt, so it makes sense that if your progesterone levels are low that your boobs wouldn't hurt.

  • also don't worry too much about the specific beta number because you don't know what yours was to start out with. some peoples is like 63 and they have a perfectly healthy pregnancy, so doubling of 63 is way different than if your starting number was 463!
  • Sorry you don't have any defiinitive answers, but hopefully it is just the progesterone and the meds help.  I second going to the ER or asking/begging your OB for an U/S if at all possible.  I think the $100 co-pay is worth it and I'd just cut back on people's gifts or wherever else I could to make it happen.  I'm sure they'd understand.

  • I agree with PP- I had significant bleeding from 4-8 weeks and then spotting on and off. My OB did an ultrasound at 5wks, 6wks and 8wks due to the bleeding.

I'll be honest, that progesterone number is scary but you'd rather have low progesterone then a crazy low HCG level.

Either way T&P for you to make it through tomorrow. Don't be afraid to stay home sick if you need to.

  • So I know you said your ER copay is expensive, what about urgent care? I know my copay for next years insurance is going up to like $250 or something ridiculous, but urgent care will be like $25-50. Is that a possibility? I'm just trying to help. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending positive thoughts your way.

I'm pretty sure the only real urgent care type of place around here doesn't have any imaging equipment. We went there over the summer when DH was sick, and because they were afraid he had pneumonia, they just shuffled us over to the ER anyway so they could do a chest x-ray. We ended up paying both the urgent care fee AND the ER copay. I was pissed. Needless to say, I'm less than inclined to go back there.

  • I hate this.

I'm so sorry. You can't push for an ultrasound? I have to be very direct with my doctor "I want to come in for an US today, when can I get fitted in?" I know I was high risk, but it always worked.

An old gp'r (C....) had the same thing happen to her, she was bleeding and thought it was over, she had a beautiful healthy baby. I don't want to fill you with false hope, but we have seen it.

Yeah, but they drew blood Monday afternoon, less than 24 hours after I'd started bleeding. I wouldn't expect the numbers to have dropped all that much then.

  • Okay, you are free to call me crazy.

But in the meantime you could take pregnancy tests until you get confirmation. I would take them a couple of days after I thought I had passed it.  Just to see if I would still get a positive.  Then when I actually did pass it and knew it, I took a test 2 days later just to see and it was negative.

This is also because I had a lot of cheapies and like peeing on things. But if it gives you peace of mind to do so, then I see no problem in doing it.
