NBR: Showers

I don't wash my hair daily but I do condition it daily. My curls need the extra moisture.

I often work three days in a row and then am off for four (due to the 12-hour shifts I work), so on those stretches that I am home (I live alone), I often shower every third day. I do go to the gym daily and to yoga twice a week, but if I don't have any social engagements on my days off, I let it slide...or I just jump in and out of the shower quick without washing my hair. When I am working, I can't go more than every other day without washing my hair because it's short and curly, and it starts to look pretty sketchy after a while.

This thread is making me feel so gross right now! I just had to wear a Holter monitor (a heart monitor that involved 7 wires being attached to various parts of my chest, and a battery pack worn in a pouch around my neck) for 48 hours. It couldn't get wet, so I haven't been able to shower since Tuesday morning. My skin feels so gross to me, and I can't wait to go home from work and shower (it was just removed this afternoon).

So, 2 days is my limit. When we are at the cabin, we can get pretty lax about it. I only wash my hair twice a week, so I don't have to worry about that. Of course, if I run or work out, I will always shower right after. And I prefer to shower at night so I can sleep later in the morning!

I endured 24 hours in that darn monitor in July one year. I was NOT happy.

I generally shower everyday. If I was home alone and my FI was staying somewhere else, maybe I would skip a day within those 2-4 days. I would be in my PJs though all day everyday, except for the day(s) I have to go shopping.

I always feel like my curls are what allow me to go a few days without showering. I wear my hair a little messy anyway and feel like there's no huge difference between day one and day two. Actually, a lot of times my day two or three hair is better than my day one hair.

I know what you mean. I love a hot bath to relax in, but I don't like soaking in all of the soap and shampoo. Sometimes I actually shower to get clean and then get in the bath to soak.

I bathe in some way or another every day, but I shower every other day. My hair would be straw if I washed it every day. I take a bath on the alternate days. Good reading time.

I told mh that, when we buy a house, it would be completely all right with me if we ripped out the bathtub and put in a huge shower.

DH and I are both shower every other day kind of people. The obviously exception is if we work out or we end up somewhere dirty (ie the barn).

I enjoy sleeping in a bit longer every other morning

Typically I shower every day and only wash my hair every other day. But if I'm just at home I shower every other day. I would shower less on at-home days but my hair's too short to pull up so it just hangs there. Gross.

I was at a get-together with a bunch of women last night and decided to bring up this topic to see what they had to say. And all of us agreed that we basically shower once we have a compelling reason to, like a social engagement or something of that nature! And all of us were like, "Oh, I thought I was the only one!" There were some SAHMs there, as well as some people who work from home, and then there was me, who works a weird schedule and lives alone, and universally, we all agreed that showering everyday is not generally necessary.

this. DH was a bath person until we got married (his whole family is) and I just find it so weird.

I agree. My second-day hair is my best. If I have a special event coming up, I'll time my hair washing so that I go to the event with second-day curls!

My second-day curls are a disaster! They're all matted and flat on one side and sticking straight up on the other. It's not a good situation at all. My hair has to be wet every morning, and allowed to air dry.
