Re: What Are You Buying/What Have You Bought DH for Christmas?

  • We bought a car, so that's pretty much our Christmas gift to each other. ;)

We are going on a date night though next weekend to watch The Hobbit. So that's the other part of our Christmas gift. :)

Nice gifts @LooneyLife! I might have to get the 1 lb Reese's for DH, he would absolutely love it.

DH is getting a few games:

A strategy board game that I backed on Kickstarter for him:
    image

    A new sweatshirt:

And a Lego R2D2! I got this thing for an excellent price on cyber monday, I'm super happy about it. He's wanted it for a while but it hasn't been in the budget.
    image

Probably a few small things, but that's about it.

Edit: Can only get two of my images to show up. Tried getting rid of them and replacing them, it didn't work. You'll have to imagine lego R2D2 ):

  • Looney- awesome job!

We're going to do small gifts, since we'll be in Hawaii for Xmas. We also want to keep saving in the event we have to move onto ivf next year.

  • We're kind of grinchy and don't do gifts for one another. The way I look at it is that it's one less gift to stress about, and less money to spend... Plus, we share a bank account and just buy what we want throughout the year. Bah humbug :p

  • I've got him some adjustable weights and am trying to figure out some other things.  He is the worst person to shop for because he buys anything that he wants.

  • My H is horrible to shop for. He buys whatever he wants, and is very particular about everything. So I usually order some deep dish pizzas from his favorite place back in Chicago. Ever since we left home he complains that there's no good pizza here. This way, I know he likes his gift and it doesn't go to waste.
  • DH has been wanting a specific mute for his trumpet for as long as we've been together, so I attempted to order it. For some reason paypal is not taking my credit card even though I know it has the money. I also attempted to order him a camp stove for when we go camping! but it says someone already bought it. Last night I was successful in ordering a lantern case for him. Now I'm trying to figure out what else to get him.

  • @Beelu I just got DH the R2D2 after seeing your post.  It was a little pricey with the gift that I already got him, but I think he will like it.  He has been talking about wanting kids that he can build legos with and he loves Star Wars. I'm actually really excited that I might have something to surprise him with (since he always knows what he is getting)!

We haven't exchanged Christmas gifts since we got married.  We'll usually buy something together after Christmas and consider that our gift to each other.  This year I know we want a new TV for the bedroom so any money we would spend on gifts for each other will most likely just go to that..or IUI meds.

The thought of Christmas exhausts me because we end up having to spend most of our day traveling from place to place, so a few less presents to worry about is a great thing.

  • Tom and I are only doing stockings for each other this Christmas because we will be going to New Orleans in February. That's our gift to each other.

  • I bought DH new golf clubs for Christmas (okay, he bought them, but I get to wrap them up and put them under the tree - I have no idea what kind of golf clubs he wanted). I'll buy him a few new shirts that can be worn with cufflinks (my sister bought him some made of seats from Fenway!).

In his stocking he's getting a wireless speaker that he can use in the golf cart and on the range, a deer candle holder (gag gift from his accident), and a few other small things. I'll throw in new socks and undershirts, too.

  • We bought a new Keurig, so that's a "shared" gift.

I also got him a few little fun things: Star Wars desk calendar, etc. He also has a couple pairs of cool cufflinks (Darth Vader and a Lego block), so I'm going to get him a couple shirt to wear them with.

He also wants/needs new Oakley sunglasses, so I'm going to find the tackiest pair I can find at the Dollar Store, wrap them up and let him choose between them and a new pair :)

  • I got him some cooling pillows, he has been talking about it for a while. Also, a nice jacket. We have been talking though, and we may be going to Texas in June to see George Strait's last concert! I am sooo hoping we do this now, and this would be our gift for eachother. He knows how much I want to see GS and he brought this up to me. Would be SO MUCH FUN! I have never been to Texas, and a country show IN Texas, what coulda girl want?? :)

  • I haven't figured this out yet. I will probably buy him little things for his stocking. And he'll do mine.

We had a tassimo machine that just broke, so we might get a Keurig and call it a shared Christmas gift. I really miss the one-cup coffee maker so we might as well buy something we'll use.

We had a Tassimo and like the Keurig WAYYY better.  There's a good deal at Costco - $149 for the higher end machine (temperature control, 5 cup sizes, etc) and it comes with the reusable filter and 60 K-cups.

  • We usually only do stockings but I cheated and got DH a keurig. It's kind of for both us so I figured it was ok ( we are replacing our tassimo with it).

In his stocking he's getting a video game, a t-shirt he wanted from the onion, k cups and some other small treats. We also always do pj's so he'll get those too.
I tell him he's not allowed to buy things for himself after September and then I have stuff to get hkm, otherwise he'd just buy them for himself.

Did you maybe get a new card with the same number but different expiration date? That happened to me last night and could not for the life of me figure out why it wouldn't take it (because it was a saved card). I think I made 6 attempts before I figured it out, lol. Blond

  • So far I grabbed him a pair of fleece lounge pants.

I'm waffling on whether or not to get him a new bottle of cologne (he really wears it very infrequently, so it lasts him forever, and I'm not sure he'd really care about getting more).

I'd really like to get him one of the fishing reels he wants, but they're pretty pricey, and I'm having a really hard time finding anywhere online that sells them (we don't have any of the big hunting/fishing stores nearby; it'd be a huge trip for me to go out to one, and he'd totally know what I was doing).

We also just ordered a bunch of movies/shows off Fox Connect when they had a huge Black Friday sale, so I'm considering those Christmas gifts, even though we already know what they are.

  • I got DH a pea coat (it came with a nice scarf too... bonus!), new cologne, and an electric razor. He hinted at all these things so I feel like I'm being lazy/unoriginal and really want to get him one more thoughtful gift, but I'm stuck.

  • @BeeLu I wish I had seen that on Cyber Monday! I'll be watching for it next year.

So far he's getting Red Vs Blue box set with seasons 1 through 10. I also added on Red Vs Blue season 11 and their Reward Show DVD. I still need to get him more.

This year since we're doing Christmas Dinner at our house, we're going to do a gift exchange. Pick a number, #1 picks a gift and opens, #2 can pick another gift or take #1 and so on. It's meant to be silly gifts. I'm going to buy one of the small Star Wars lego sets without DH knowing and put it in the exchange. I'm hoping that will get him interested in it and something people will fight over.
