  • I know I was part of last year's post-NY boom. I just hope most of the boom aren't, as LL said, rude idiots. Hence hoping to keep my patience. I'm perfectly happy with most newbies who join us.

We used to have a web page for GP. I would like to see that return to the board as a "sticky" thread or announcement at the top of the board. It had a lot of good information on it!

  • @brij2006, we had one, but unfortunately newbies still don't seem to pay attention to it.

I think the newbs will liven the place up a bit. Give us some entertainment at least.
Although I'm not looking forward to the drive-by BFPs. But I guess ya gotta take the good with the bad!
  • I'm still a newbie, kind of.... :) I don't think there was an intro thing on top when I first came here....

  • I always liked the newbies! At least the nice ones who weren't dumb. :) Always fun to get some new blood in the group! Hey, might even liven this place up, which would be awesome!

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

I remember how helpful that was when I first started on the boards.  Maybe there's a way we can get it back up there?

  • I enjoy having new people come in! We were all newbies once, but people still tend to get annoyed when intros and newbies pop up.
  • I enjoy getting to know all of the new people.  I was a newbie two years ago and if the ladies hadn't accepted me with open arms back then, then I wouldn't have the amazing friendships and support that I do now because of this board.

I hope all of the newbies feel welcome!

  • Maybe @seahorse01 or @nestcayla can out a sticky thread up? It was incredibly helpful when I started too. Even just the acronyms we use can be intimidating at first.

  • I don't mind newbies either. We've all been there!

  • I was just thinking back to when I started on this board and realized I've stuck around in some way for roughly 2.5 years. I've loved the ladies on this board and been able to develop some wonderful friendships. Newbies tend to be a mix of great people and entertainment when they get ridiculous. Here's to hoping some fantastic ladies join!

  • FWIW, I like the idea of a sticky thread. Sure, not every newbie will read it and we'll inevitably have drive bys, but some of those who really want to become part of the community could benefit!
TTC #1 since Feb. '12. dx: "unexplained" IF
After 2 shitty IVF cycles and 1 loss at 6+2 (EDD 11/7/14), DH and I are pursuing DIA.

Cinnabun and Junebug say, "Go Wildcats!"

  • As a fairly new person, I think it would be nice to have a sticky of all the acronyms that are used.  It can be intimidating to ask what something means (and looking it up on the web comes up with some interesting and not relevant results).

  • I'm all for a sticky with acronyms being one of the newbies! I have been able to figure out a few of them. But I'm not even good lie, I kept thinking Explosive Ordinance Division for EOD and I knew that one was way wrong!! I eventually figured it out haha :))

  • Don't feel silly asking what something means! There are some acronyms that I don't really know (I know the essence)!

I totally agree. I am learning, slowly. But some stuff, I am totally clueless. Lol, Looking it up on the web definitely can give you some odd answers...

  • Can we make a banner that says "only you can take a pregnancy test" with smokey the bear? Or something like that for the people that will inundate us with "zomg I had ST once yesterday and I think I might be totes preggers!" After we weed out the crazies I like the newbies! It's fun to help people learn about their bodies.
I totally agree! And I think it's fun to get fresh blood and see people settle in :)
