My puppy fell and broke his leg today

Fortunately, the break is even and not too far out of alignment. Unfortunately, it is very close to his joint. We were quoted around $4k for surgery or we can take our chances and see how it heals with a splint. We are going to give it until Tuesday to see how it looks then and make the decision of doing surgery or not. We have the advantage of him being young and healthy, so we are hoping he will heal well on his own. He is on some pain killers and anti-inflammatory pills to keep him comfortable for now.
Any thoughts and prayers you can spare would be greatly appreciated. He's my baby and I hate that he's hurt and I just want him to be better.
Re: T&Ps please
poor baby. Hope he heals very quickly with the splint and doesn't need surgery.
Waiting on my baby girl
EDD 2/5/14
Our puppy ended up with luxating patellas in both legs and couldn't walk. First quote we were given to fix them was around $4k, but we got a second opinion and were able to get it for $2k. I hope the splints work so you don't have to go that route, but if you do get a second opinion. T&Ps headed your way!

I've never seen a full cast on a puppy! I know how difficult it can be to watch your furbaby in pain, so I hope he heals quickly and easily without surgery.
