Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges or just fun? Will it snow where you are today?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

I'm reading Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum.  The writing is really messed up.  Who writes dialogue without quotations???

Still listening to The Bride Wore Size 12 by Meg Cabot.  I like it but Christmas music is trumping audiobook.

104 and 105 for the year.

We have a Winter Weather Advisory for tonight and tomorrow.  Only a few inches here supposedly.  It's supposed to be worse south.

  • I'm listening to Night of Cake and Puppets, which is awesome.  I have a few books in at the library that I will pick up tonight.  I'm not sure which one I will start first.  I've got 12 books left to reach my goal of 200.  Thank goodness I only have one more week of work before vacation!
  • I am between books at the moment, but I've done a lot of reading over the last week. I finished Some Girls Bite and am looking forward to the discussion. I read Kinked by Thea Harrison, which was good. I finished reading that last of the Claymore manga series that my library has. The final one was a cliffhanger, so I'm hoping my library system gets the next ones soon! It was very good.

I also finished Heart of Obsidian, which I liked. Anyone want to speculate on pupcubs? (Highlight to see.) My guess is only twins, a boy cub and a girl pup.

I am somewhere around 230 for the year. No snow today, but it's predicted for tomorrow, between 4-8 inches.

I'm trading John Adams (STILL-it's just too bulky to carry around/read when I'm nursing!) and Dragonfly in Amber (hoping to finish this weekend).

It's supposed to snow tomorrow and my DH is working overtime so I hope this doesn't mean I have to figure out a way to shovel while simultaneously watching a 5month old and 3 dogs...

  • I'm still reading The Dream Thieves. I plowed through a fair amount in the middle of the night last night.

I'm listening to Under the Never Sky. I'm about 30% of the way through. I'm enjoying it.

These two are #77 and 78 for the year. I completed my goal of 75 last week.

No snow here today, maybe a wintry mix tomorrow morning, but it is supposed to warm up.

I'm reading NOS4A2 for FBC, I like it but I feel like I've been reading it forever and I just want to finish it already!

They are numbers 128 and 129 for the year.

  • Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh which is hilarious, but I thought we were getting all new material, not recycled blog posts. Womp.

And Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampies #1) which is surprisingly fun! I'm liking it a lot.

@sweetrhythms It took me so long to read my John Adams book.  I thought I would never finish it.

  • I started A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons this morning.  So far, so good.

I am also starting My Hitch in Hell: the Bataan Death March by Lester I. Tenney.  I have only read the Preface so far.

    #'s 85 & 86 for the year.  I have passed my goal of 75.

    90 books in 2015?

  • I'm reading Horns by Joe Hill, and really enjoying it.  NOS4A2 is the only of his books I had read before this, and I'm finding the writing and tone to be very different, but not in a bad way.  I loved NOS4A2, and I'm loving this one too.

I'm listening to The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms #2), and enjoying it.  I have the same hang-ups that I had with the last one (magic and sorcery are just not my thing, I'm tired of everyone cursing "Hanalea's bloody bones" all the time, etc), but I like the characters and I like the story, so I am enjoying the series.

I think the snow is supposed to start tomorrow afternoon here.  It's a bright sunny (cold) day here today.  It's not even that cold anymore, now that the sun is higher.  It was something like 17 degrees when I woke up this morning, though.  It's probably closer to 30 now.
  • I am almost finished A Clash of Kings!  It's taken me forever but I'm enjoying it.  I also just started Chesapeake Blue by NR and Lover Revealed.  I'm not too far into either one but I haven't yet read a NR or BDB book that I haven't loved. I think these are #93 - 95 for the year.

No snow expected here today but we have been experiencing a nasty cold streak over the last week. It's a beautiful -42C here this morning!

  • I'm reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini, The Monuments Men by and I'm starting to listen to Heaven is for Real by Tod Burpo for FBC.  I'm somewhere around 170 for the year.

We will probably get a small dusting of snow tonight but tomorrow we're supposed to get 10 cm.

I'm reading Allegiant (27). It's been a week and I'm only 100 pages in. I don't dislike it, I just can't remember all the crap that happened in the last book and I'm not as engaged as I should be. Sadly, I think this may be my last book for the year. Yeah, I don't plan on reading much during Christmas.

Eta: What is this snow you speak of? It's been unusually cold here lately, so snow would be welcome. It was supposed to last weekend (which is rare), but nothing. Instead it's just cold and boring. I never get snow days :(

It will not snow where I am today, but we did have frost on our roof this morning!  Hey, for a suburb of LA, that's cold! :P

  • The Black Fire Concerto, by Mike Allen.  Mike is a local reporter, and this is his first novel.  It's a zombie-like novel, and I like it ok although it's a little extra creepy.

  • I'm reading The Scorpio Races and enjoying it quite a bit!  I'm 65% in and it's getting more interesting.  Book #51

I'm listening to Sugar, Salt, Fat which is FASCINATING!  I'm so glad I saw that @sassypants527 was reading a month or so ago it or I wouldn't have probably picked it up. Book #52 which is my goal for the year!

I read Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio on Wednesday and yesterday. It was so good! I loved it. It was so tragic and bittersweet. I am already planning to buy more of her books.

Not currently reading anything yet but hoping to start Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah sometime this evening.

  • I'm a little over halfway through Crown of Midnight and had to let out an audible Nooooooooooooo! on the elliptical at something that just happened. It had kind of a slow start like the first book, but I'm hooked once again.

When I'm driving, I'm alternating between a short story collection called Stories edited by Neil Gaiman and re-listening to The Dream Thieves. Some of the pieces in the collection are totally awesome and some are so-so. The Chuck Palanuik one about a guy going on the Price is Right on acid made me laugh.
