What is everyone up to this weekend?

Today DH is off so it feels like Saturday already. I think we might go into town get coffees and get Ava Nichol a Hot Chocolate and soak in the spirit of the season. Then wehave dinner at MIL's.

FIL iinvited us over so Ava Nichol could help the grandchildren decorate the tree but we already have plans and I am just so sick of being an afterthought.

Saturday and Sunday-I will be baking cookies! So much to do! I also have some chores and homework to squeeze in there somewhere.

Today- W and I are going Christmas shopping today. DH and I will probably get take out and finish decorating the tree tonight.

Tomorrow- number one, it's Saturday! That means when W wakes up in the morning DH will take him downstairs and let me sleep. DH is going Christmas shopping in the early afternoon while I clean the house. Tomorrow evening my SIL's and nephews are coming over for wine and chili.

Sunday - No plans, we will probably just stay around the house and relax.

My weekend is going to be pretty low key. Thank goodness.

Tonight: The usual Friday ritual. Going out to eat with DH and Lexi, grocery shopping, then home.

Tomorrow: DH is working extra overtime (overtime on top of his usual overtime!) so I will be cleaning the house, making crockpot chicken quesidillas, and baking goodies for gifts. It's supposed to snow tomorrow afternoon - we're supposed to get 3-6 inches. So I'm spending the rest of the afternoon watching Dr. Who and drinking hot chocolate with DH and Lexi.

Sunday: More extra overtime for DH, but we will just stay home and meld on the couch the rest of the afternoon.

I love quiet weekends!

tonight: yoga and then dinner with friends

Saturday - workout, grocery, making food for a christmas party on Sunday, and then nothing!

Sunday - book club christmas party. wrapping presents..

tonight: No idea

tomorrow: Finally getting our tree (SS was with his mom last weekend and wanted to come with us, so we waited), then we're supposed to go to a Christmas party, but I'm not sure I wanna go. This crowd has a tendency of getting drunk and out of hand and I never feel like dealing with that, let alone when I can't even drink! Maybe (hopefully) we'll get snowed in.

Sunday: Decorating the tree and cleaning... lots of cleaning. We're hosting Christmas dinner, so I want to so a major cleaning this weekend so I can do a quick once-over next weekend while DH and I are cooking and baking up a storm!

Tonight: Not sure. I'll probably be baking Pumpkin Bread. We'll probably order in, too.

Saturday: Making Ladylocks most of the day with the women on my FIL's side. Baking cookies after I get home.

Sunday: Church. Weekly clean. Friends over for dinner.

Monday (since I took the day off): Cookie baking all day! Yay! Skype date with my friend in Germany amidst that, too.

Tonight - AHL hockey game with another couple and then out for apps at Applebees

Tomorrow - H has work and I'll be snowed in all day. I'll probably do my hopefully last 24 hour urine collection. I may do some crafting for christmas gift.

Sunday - H is putting together the crib and I'm going to work on organizing the nursery. I may go do a little Christmas Shopping.

We don't have anything planned for the weekend. DH has to study for his finals, so I'll probably just clean and wrap the last of my Christmas gifts.

We were going to go on a date and go watch the Hobbit tomorrow, but we're pushing it off until next weekend because my mom is sick and can't watch A.

I'm going to hopefully rest all weekend and put the final touches on my lesson plans so I can have them printed for my long term sub after Christmas. Sleep will hopefully be my best friend this weekend...

@nightmare_of_beauty Yes FIL and his wife are only referring to SIL's two children as "the grandchildren". They also make plans with them and only invite us last minute and usually because FIL's mom says "oh did you invite your son and his family as well" or "I bet Ava Nichol would love that". She has admitted to us that she tells him to include us and that is why the invitations are so late notice and rushed.

@sgautschi I am making sugar cookies, buttermilk nutmeg cookies, Oreo peppermint balls, PB balls, Bourbon Balls and Kwik cookies oh and cheesecake bites.

That is really sad that your FIL is like that. I probably would've given up on that relationship already, but I know it's easier said than done.

I have pretty much given up on it but DH won't. He is like halfway there. We are trying to move across the country in the next five years and he just feels like it is easier to cut ties then and keep the peace for now.

I am trying 3 new recipes so wish me luck!

Tonight: Nothing much, I'm just going to finish wrapping gifts.

Saturday: I need to take my engagement ring to get fixed, three of the four prongs broke yesterday I'm so glad that it didn't completely break. I will also be mailing my gift Saturday.

Sunday: I will be deep cleaning my carpet, my pup has been acting up and peed in here twice. now it stinks in here bad.

Pretty boring weekend if you ask me. Lol

Xp from gp: Spent all day getting caught up on decorating! (Since I was out of town and then had to work yesterday). Might even start baking tonight. Lots of cooking and baking tomorrow bc were hosting this years christmas party for 60 people (including 20 kids)! Extra tables, chairs, etc are being delivered around 11. Party starts at 5pm. Sunday I work and will do any leftover cleanup.

@wiggyslilsis - My parents were divorced when I was really little and even though my dad had partial custody I only saw him on my birthday and Christmas (for a while, now never). He has a few sisters and they have children. One Christmas when we got to my grandmothers house (that I also saw twice a year) she pulled me aside and told me not to be upset when the other girls opened their gifts because they would have more than me because, "Well, we just love them differently. But, you will still have a few presents." That's a sad story but it doesn't affect me now because I didn't see them often enough to have a strong emotional connection to them after that. Even still, I was probably 6 years old and I will never forget that. If Ava Nichol is an afterthought to them, they don't deserve her precious memories anyway.

@sgautschi - I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, Babies R Us (I'm making "Grandma's brag book" photo albums for W's great grandma's) and Target. Target got cut short because W woke up pissed. lol But I got pretty close to finishing my shopping!

I'm jealous of all the baking going on this weekend. I love to cook but have very little baking experience. I want to make cookies!

@sgautschi, I think that is the reason why she did it. I give her attention but not as much as before, especially while being pregnant I would take her everywhere. It's just hard because she is really good about never peeing inside. I feel like these are her crazy teen years. Lol

@TudorRose11, I'm really sorry you had to go through that. It must have been really painful

I went through a similar thing while growing up with my dad and it hurts like no a mother....

@wiggyslilsis, I agree with Tudor. They don't deserve AN beautiful memories.

@TudorRose11 wow you went to a lot of stores before he got angry! What a good little shopper.

And that's a really cute idea to make a brag book. I frame pictures for all the relatives, and got "grandma" charm bracelets and "grandpa" keychain for her grandparents.

@bridget1117 I totally hear you. My dogs were my babies before, and it took us a while to adjust with A being here. They still act up here and there, but we are starting to find a new routine that works for everyone. I hope your puppy stops doing that soon!

We're all releaxing today. We've got a snow storm and so it's a great excuse to be in and cozy! So we're catching up on laundry, eating out of the pantry and just lazying about.

Tomorrow we're going to Mum's to make gingerbread houses and build snowmen!

@wiggyslilsis That is also sad and wrong! Don't let them hurt Ava Nichol, they don't deserve a sweet grandchild like her.

@tudorrose11 that is a sad story but I am glad that it didn't have any lasting negative affects on you.

They posted tons of pictures of the grandchildren decorating the tree last night. We went to MIL's like we do every Friday andhad fun and were wwith people who love Ava Nichol and worth our time so definitely the right choice.

@sgautschi ladylocks are a cookie that's just dough and icing through the middle. Google a picture and you'd probably recognize them. There so good.
