Happy last Friday of fall! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for one of the challenges or just fun? Who else can't believe it's nearly winter and Christmas? 2013 flew by!!

  • I'm listening to The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead.  I'm not sure I'm liking the alternating viewpoints and readers.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I started The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima. I'm not quite as sucked in as I was with the Seven Realms series, but it's OK.

5 days till Christmas! I'm so excited that Collin is old enough to "get it" this year.

  • I'm reading Damned for bookclub on my phone (it's weird) and John Adams by David McCullough for the presidential challenge and really enjoying it even though it's taken me forever to get through.  I set a goal to finish it this month and since DD decided to sleep again I've been able to pick it back up.  I read 50 pages last night so I might actually meet my goal.  Yay!

@WillyH19 I think I would've had a hard time listening to this one. But I REALLY enjoyed reading it.

  • I'm reading The Wolves of Midwinter by Anne Rice.  I like it ok, but my has her writing gotten overly sentimental in later years.  Everyone is always on the verge of tears over everything, male or female.  The trees, the sky, the arrangement of furniture, a conversation...they're always weepy with the beauty of it all.  It's a bit much.  And I haven't figured out if there's a plot to this one yet...it's just flowy, flowery emotion without any particular drive towards a subject.

  • I'm reading HP and the Order of the Phoenix, still.  I just haven't had enough reading time and it makes me sad.

Thanks @nocturnalintimacy I will keep that in mind. I know a few people who felt the same way about the book. I might consider that if I can't get through the audiobook before its due back at the library on January 3.

  • I am about halfway through Surrender to Sultry and loving it!  I'm going to be so sad when I finish it and the series is over. I am also halfway through Chesapeake Blue and enjoying that one as well.

These two will put me at my goal for the year!

  • I sat down last night and read Starry Night by Debbie Macomber.  It was a cute little Christmas read.  I really liked it.  I also really liked that it was short enough to read in one sitting.

I don't know how you could read those two back to back. CNV was so good, but I was such a wreck after that I needed some happy stories to recover emotionally before I even thought about Rose.

  • I'm about 35% into Fangirl. Early on I was not feeling the love for it and even considered giving up. Probably a combination of finishing two phenomenal books with beloved characters just before (Night of Cake and Puppets and Crown of Midnight) and all of the hype around Fangirl. I just wanted to shake Cath and tell her to get out of her room. But the next time I picked it up, two or three paragraphs in, I got sucked in and now I get why everyone is raving about this.

I'm also doing a re-listen to The Dream Thieves.

I think these are 53 & 54 for the year.

  • Reading Seige and Storm and listening to The Raven Boys.  I've just started both of them, but I'm pretty jazzed up about reading them.  They've both been on my To Be Read list for quite a while.
