I bought all of the gifts I wanted to give, the ones that haven't been purchased are definitely obligatory.

This is kind of sad.

Not so sad. We get nervous leaving my mom with the girls. I feel like my MIL is more capable of keeping them in order and bathed, fed, etc.
My mom is more the creative type. Kids need their stories and craft projects too but it can be a bit nerve-wracking when one is screaming and the other hasn't eaten by bedtime.

Along these lines, I get irrationally annoyed when people have only pictures of their kids on their Christmas cards. You adults still matter too, people!

I'm irrationally annoyed about something that has nothing to do with me. A friend of mine had super cute Xmas pictures done of her infant. Very cute. Whatever. Anyway, I asked her about it and she told me, "A friend of mine is a photographer, she's super popular among wealthy people, and her sitting fees and packages cost thousands of dollars. As a baby shower gift to me, she offered to do Xmas pictures of LO for only $300. It was fantastic!"

This did not include the cost of the Xmas cards.

Call me judgy, but I felt that was super squicky and a weird gift from photographer friend.

I like christmas cards of cute kids but I hate christmas cards with pictures of your smart-ass, delinquent teenagers.

Once your kids have stopped being cute, I don't want to see them on christmas cards anymore.

Exactly. If she had said, "Hey, you're a friend so I'll do it for $300," then great!

I have a problem with, "Your baby shower gift is that you can pay me $300 to take pictures of your baby."

Not the best confession, but I am feeling a little guilty. I am not going to a work Christmas party tonight. I should go because my coworker put a lot of time and money into planning it but I just really don't feel like going. I spent two hours a doctors office that is an hour drive from where I live, I'm feeling a little sick and there's supposed to be freezing rain. I told everyone I was sick.

Yes, he's United Methodist, and it's very disheartening to say the least. Many of our UM pastor friends are, too.

I'm frustrated I can't figure out what to get DH this year. I always come up with the best presents that he hadn't even thought of but loves and I can't think of a damn thing this year. I mean, not that I'm competitive, but this may be the first year that I don't "win" Christmas because he appears to be really excited about what he got me.

Disclaimer: I do love everything DH gives me but I'm more creative and go off the list whereas he'd rather get me exactly what I want and go on list.
