Re: End of the Year GTKY

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? There was a point in my short lived second pregnancy that I realized I could love another baby as much as my first. I needed that knowledge.

    2) How about your worst? I think the failed/BFN IVF cycle was actually worse than the miscarriage.

    3) Favorite new song this year? Don't hate me, but I do love Wrecking Ball.

    4) What was the best movie you saw? We saw 42 in the theaters and it was a great movie.

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? We went to Mexico for a week which was awesome, but I actually really enjoyed a long weekend away for a cousin's wedding.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? It was to stop biting my nails, and yes.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? When my neighbors horse got loose in our yard and DH and I had to chase the horse down after we've had a few too many drinks. I don't think I've laughed that hard in years.

    2)  How about your worst? When DH and I thought we saw a line on FRER right before Xmas and AF was 2 days late.

    3) Favorite new song this year? Eli Young Band - Crazy Girl (it's not on the radio very often anymore but it's my #1 this year. Otherwise Daughtry - Waiting for Superman

    4)  What was the best movie you saw?

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? DH and I went to Maine and Cape Cod, we spent part of it with family but we got 4 WHOLE days alone. Just us, doing nothing, it was amazing.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? Yeah - we said we were going to start a strick diet and we definitely did, DH lost 70 lbs and I had lost 20 now I gained almost 10 back. Holidays got me bad this year.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? Marrying DH

    2)  How about your worst? My ex left me (taking a s**t ton of my money) late in 2012 and in the beginning of 2013 I realized marriage might not be in the cards for me. It was tough to come to terms with (and I obviously couldn't have been more wrong!).

    3) Favorite new song this year? I don't listen to a lot of new music, but I'd have to say Home by Philip Phillips. DH played it for me a lot because he knew I wasn't thrilled about the thought of moving. I heard it three times during my drive the day I moved.

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? Last Vegas

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Honeymoon in Costa Rica

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? Sure did. Lost 30 pounds and kept it off. I also focused on myself a lot more and it paid off.

    Happy [almost] New Year, everyone!

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? - Marrying DH.  :)

    2)  How about your worst? - Is it bad that I can't think of one?  The whole year was filled with happy things.

    3) Favorite new song this year? - "Brave" by Sara Bareilles (only my favorite artist)

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? - at this point it's a tie between "Frozen" and "Hunger Games: Catching Fire"

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? - my honeymoon

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? - I actually don't think I made any this year because all my attention was on the wedding.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? Although my bfp was amazing, since it also goes along with the worst, I will say all the weight I lost.

    2)  How about your worst? Oct 24th 2013, I will always remember the look on the u/s techs faces when they walked into the room

    3) Favorite new song this year? It actually came out Oct 2012, but the song Carry On by Fun. DH listen to it after the m/c and it made me start listening to it. I feel like it was written for us. First is Oct 24th, next is us coping, and last will be when we start trying again.

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? I'm going to say Hunger Games, Catching Fire.

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? We went on a family vacation to Pigeon Forge in June. It was nice to take a vacation it had been a long time.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? Not as good as I should have. I was good up until June then with vacation and my test results coming back normal, I let myself relax way too much. I'm planning on getting back on track and remembering, it's not a diet, it's restrictions. I can't just eat what I want.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013?  Watching my best friend marry her best friend after 11 years together.  It was special.

    2) How about your worst?  The day of our IPS scan that showed the missed m/c.  I haven't cried that hard in years.  It was worse than the molar dx because at least by that point I was numb.

    3) Favorite new song this year?  Wake me up by Avicii - I blast it every.single.time it comes on.

    4) What was the best movie you saw? I really like world war Z....but I also don't watch that many movies so the pool of candidates is very limited.

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Trip to Vegas last May was amazing.  Seriously the best trip.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? I don't think I made any last year.

  • Best moment: taking B to watch a playoff Pirate game was pretty incredible for so many reasons.

Worst moment: I left the job I had been at for almost four years bc I did not feel valued or respected. It's been hard to come to terms with.

New song? I listen more to sports talk than music but wrecking ball is good.

Best movie: I'm not certain I saw one new movie this year. I'm not a huge movie person. But I really want to see frozen and I've really gotten into Downton abbey and the new Michael j fox show. Oh, and master chef jr.

Event or trip: we didnt go anywhere this year. The pirates playoff game was amazing for so many reasons but so was throwing my H's 30 bday party.

I did a really good job of staying healthy and active in the first half of the year but not so good in the second.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? When DH finally said he was ready to TTC.

    2)  How about your worst? My grandma dying

    3) Favorite new song this year? I can't pick favorites. I also can't remember what songs come out when. I pretty much love all the music.

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? This is hard too because we see LOTS of movies (probably 30-35 in the theater this year). I'll go with Catching Fire, though.

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? We went to Vegas over the 4th of July as a group to celebrate a bunch of 30th birthdays in our friend circle and so that lots of the group could go see the UFC fights. That was a ton of fun.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? Kind of. We did save money all year but not as much as I'd wanted/planned.

  • Best moment: although I'm 99% sure it won't work out in our favor this month, knowing DH's sperm could fertilize my egg was amazing. I cried and cried and cried tears of relief. That had been my biggest fear going into IVF.
Worst moment: Again, it's 3T related...this is going to sound awful, but finding out about SIL's pg was really hard. The "unfairness" of it all was magnified.
Song: I realized my unashamed love of "22" by Taylor Swift in 2013.
Best movie: Anyone who watched 42 and doesn't say it was one of the best is lying.
Trip: We went to SF in February. It was nice to get away for a few days, just the two of us, for no reason at all.
2013 Resolution: I wanted to stick to my 2011 resolution of no soda except ginger ale, and I've done that for 3 years now!

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? Finally getting my Marriage and Family Therapy license.  There were so many setbacks over the last year, it felt really good to see it online and then hold the paper in my hands.  Second, getting a call from DH that he had made President's Club at his job.  It's been so amazing to see him really thrive at a completely new career and meet his yearly quota in August of his first full year doing it!

    2)  How about your worst? My breakdown at Thanksgiving when I saw all the fb posts with babies and announcements since I was at 1 year of TTC.

    3) Favorite new song this year? Justin's whole album....he is one sexy man!

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? Catching Fire

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Going to Hawaii with DH, my sister and BIL.  It was such a nice trip all together.  Also, going to the Derby and seeing DH get felt up by an extremely drunk Kirk Herbstreit.  I laughed so hard when I saw him rubbing his hand up and down DH's back!

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? One of them! I wanted to learn more about my body, and thanks to all you ladies, I bought TCOYF and learned so much!

SO true! DH and I met at a holiday party in 2012, when my relationship was headed downhill.  We became friends and started dating in May. We were engaged by the end of August and married the following August.  Definitely a whirlwind, but DH was 41 and I was 32, so we felt like we were old enough to know what we were looking for and what we wanted for the future and didn't want to waste any more time.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? Marrying DH

    2)  How about your worst? Finding out my dad had a cancer spot on his face. Just the word cancer scares the crap out of me. (Thank goodness he is fine!)

    3) Favorite new song this year? I'm obsessed with Royals by Lorde and Wake Me Up by Aloe Blacc/Avicii

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? I really suck at remembering movies so I don't know ha

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Our Honeymoon in Kauai. If you ever go to Kauai you must stay at the Aston Waimea Plantation Cottages. Seriously the best ever!!

  • What was your best moment in 2013?  Getting our 1st BFP after 22 months TTC.

How about your worst?  Our two failed IUIs were bad, but my worst moment was the cycle after our 2nd failed IUI.  We thought for sure that was THE cycle and when it wasn't, DH and I both just lost it.

Favorite new song this year?  I'm not sure if it's from this year, but Laura Story's "Blessings" was a constant encouragement to me throughout the year.

What was the best movie you saw?  We saw a ton of movies this year.  I loved "Catching Fire" and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended?  My brother and SIL's wedding was a blast.  It was in Hershey, PA and DH and I got to stay at the mansion where the wedding was for two nights and it was incredible.

Did you stick to your 2013 resolution?  I didn't make any resolutions for the year but continued my "30-ish Before 30" goal list.  I did pretty well on that and hit more than half of my goals by the time I turned 30 in May.  I haven't decided if I'll make resolutions for 2014.

  • 1) What was your best moment in 2013? Starting my new internship, which I absolutely love. It's the first time I've worked in a museum, and it's amazing.

    2)  How about your worst? DH's grandmother passed away in June.

    3) Favorite new song this year? I like a lot of new music... Wake Me Up by Avicii is great.

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? I loved Star Trek into Darkness. I've been meaning to see 42 and think it will be amazing, but haven't gotten there yet.

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Went to Germany to see my "sister" get married. Loved Germany, loved meeting her family, loved seeing her and her DH so in love. It was wonderful.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? I don't really make resolutions, but I did reach the goals I set for myself in terms of academic performance, which I'm really pleased about.

  • Let's do a little recap shall we....

    1) What was your best moment in 2013? A collection of moments, really, but my relationship with Tom has completely matured into something so strong due to 3T

    2)  How about your worst? All of the exhaustion and heartbreak involving 3T

    3) Favorite new song this year? Omg so embarrassing - Story of My Life by One Direction lmao

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? The only movies I see in the theater are usually horror flicks, so I'm going to go with The Conjuring or Insidious 2

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Tom and I took a few weekends away and they were all quiet, relaxing, and lovely

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? No. I've always been too broad and unrealistic and I never made any steps or plans to achieve it. Can we add a question to this?

    7) What is your 2014 resolution? To get myself ready for further treatment. I am doing no favors to myself by sitting around wallowing and expecting to get magically KTFU. My RE has indicated that we need to move on and in order to do that, I have to lose weight. That's it. So I'm going to do it. And get myself ready emotionally and mentally.

    2) How about your worst? The loss right before Thanksgiving.

    3) Favorite new song this year? There were a lot that I loved, but I can never remember them all when I'm on the spot! Pink's "Try" is definitely up there.

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? I absolutely loved "Catching Fire." I can hardly even remember what I saw a year ago!

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? I took one trip and had one event, both of which are at the top of my experiences for the year. I loved going to visit my mom and brothers and my sister/BIL/niece in AL in July. We didn't do a lot, but it was such a great week with family.
Doing the Spartan Race a week earlier was awesome, too!! Our team cranked it out and worked together, and we had so much fun completing the obstacles and getting absolutely filthy.

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? I didn't make one. I don't think I've made one in a couple of years!

    2)  How about your worst?  At my BETA blood draw with my first failed IUI... I just knew it hadn't worked, and we were so hopeful because I had responded so well (3 good follies). At least it made getting the news that my beta was negative a little easier a few hours later, but I did feel like a moron.

    3) Favorite new song this year? On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? I really enjoyed The Conjuring and World War Z

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? DH and I went kayaking off the coast of California's Channel Islands in March... Awesome trip!

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? Don't even remember what it was, lol.

  • @JennaHack was it the Cameron estate? I live about an hour from Hershey and see that one advertised a lot.

    1. Best moment: I had a lot of good moments, I don't know if it is getting my more permanent teaching certificate and subsequent raise, master's admission, or DH telling me he is more willing to consider adoption. 2. Worst moments: when the school year started I found out that my district office had sent very important information about my certification to the wrong person (2 people with the same first and last name and middle initial) and I was days away from losing my certificate for a clerical error and that would mean the loss of my job. Fortunately my boss worked with me to get things done quickly and keep my license and job. DH's convertible (that we went on our first date and left our wedding in) was hit by the garbage truck when it was parked in front of our house. We both took that really hard. 3. Best song: I listen mostly through iTunes so j can't really think of any new songs, someone mentioned "Blessings" and I do love that one. 4. Best movie: we saw both Star Trek and Superman in theatre and loved them both 5. I kept the one of paying off debts, but it was sort of because of DH's car being totaled,

    1) What was your best moment in 2013? maybe when we were able to move into our house after getting most of the reno's done. The feeling of accomplishment was awesome ETA: also finding out I was going to be an aunt for the first time! (this was awesome and sucky all at the same time)

    2)  How about your worst? Definitely DH's MS diagnosis

    3) Favorite new song this year? Hmm... Maybe Jonathan Thulin's Dead Come to Life or Oceans by Hillsong United. At least those are the 2 I'm hooked on

    4)  What was the best movie you saw? Ehh.. not sure.. I am not a big movie buff. We just watched Lone Ranger and I enjoyed that

    5) Did you have a favorite trip you took or event you attended? Colorado/New Mexico this past summer. 4wheeling in the Jeep galore!

    6) Did you stick to your 2013 resolution? I didn't make any, so yep! ;)
