Reading Resolutions?

In 2014...

I'm hoping to expand a bit more into other genres and also hit upon at least one must-read-again, near and dear to my heart book.

Re: Reading Resolutions?

  • I plan on reading books I already own, I have so many and between ordering for myself and Christmas gifts, I got 30 more recently, granted some I had already read but still.  I would also like to finally finish War and Peace.

  • I want to hit at least 50 books in 2014.  Last year was a shaky year and the year before was bad with pregnancy and a new baby.

  • I would like to read one book a week in 2014
As odd as it sounds, I don't want to read more than that.  I want to learn to slow down and enjoy each book.
I need to read the books that I already own.
But I also want to make the used book bazaars we have in the spring and the fall.

  • I would like to start choosing a book over stupid games on my iPad more often.  I've been better about that the past couple of weeks, but not as good as I'd like to be.  Really, I'd like to just start spending less time playing stupid games on my iPad generally.

I have no reading goals or challenges, though.  I'd like to get to 3 presidential biographies this year.  MAYBE even 4.  So I guess that's a goal.  And stay more up-to-date with the popular stuff that you all are excited about.
  • -Read at least 60 books...this is my first year setting a goal so I'm not sure how that will go
-Finish my Washington Bio and read Adams and Jefferson
-Like a lot of people, read the bags and bags of books I already own!
-Finish my HP listen-through (this is my first time through the audiobooks!)
-Re-Read the Chronicles of Narnia series
  • I think I'll set my book goal at 150 since I made it there this year without trying too hard.

My other goal is going to be one book a month that I find by browsing alone.  It can be from the bookstore or the library, but it has to be a serendipitous pick.

And kind of as an over-arching theme: this is going to be my year of reading whatever the hell I want.  My blog has dictated so much of my reading over the past two years and I'm totally burned out on review copies.  I'm not accepting anything that requires me to read on a deadline.

  • I would like to read 100 books again in 2014.  I also want to concentrate on my TBR list and finish a bunch of series that I have started.

I'm going to set my goal for the year to 120.

I'm going to read books on my TBR.

Buy more of the books I enjoy, my collection is small.

Edited to add: Read more books by authors that are new to me.

  • I'm going to set my goal for the year to 50. That feels low but I have no idea what the year will bring.

    Read books I already own.

Read books on my TBR list.

Read what I want. I read a lot of review books this year and I'm kind of over it.

  • I want to try to read every day. I got out of practice in 2013 and I miss my reading time.

  • I am going to aim for 100 books again. I read 130 books this year, but this was an anomaly for me (I am usually in the 50-75 camp), so I don't want to aim higher and set myself up for failure.

  • I want to read 40 books again. I really don't think it will happen, but I didn't think I would this  year either. This semester will be rough though.
    image
  • I'm going to drop my goal from 200 to 175.  I found myself choosing not to read longer books so that I could make my goal.

I also want to read the entire Wheel of Time series in 2014.  I've read about 2/3 so far, but I want to start over from the beginning now that the series has concluded.
  • I am dropping my goal back to 175.
I need to work on my reviews/blog more. Even if no one reads it, I feel better, more myself having written out my thoughts.
  • I'm not setting a number goal for 2014. My goals are to do the genre challenge so I can broaden my horizons and to also read more books that I own.

  • My goal this year is 40 books. Last year the goal was 25 and I met that in October. So hopefully 40 is doable for me.

  • 1) Finish books I've already started.

    2) Read books I already own, or get rid of them.

    3) Don't keep HC of books I didn't love and can't see myself rereading.

    4) Be choosier about which books I buy in HC vs. buy on ebooks vs. borrow, due to both a limited amount of space and the need to curtail spending.

  • I was bad in 2013 and did horrible reading wise. My goal is to snap out of that rut! I plan to:
-read every day because it is something I truly enjoy.
-tackle the number of books I own but haven't read.
-stay consistent on goodreads and NBC :)
    -read 50 books

  • I'm hoping to read at least 50 books this year. I'd also like to read more of what I own and make reading a priority. It's definitely become obvious to me that I feel much better when I get in regular amounts of reading.
