Re: Thursday Randoms

  • Do Cheez-Its have an addictive chemical in them?  I brought a small container of them to have with my lunch today, but I was hungry so I thought I'd just have a couple for now.  I've gone back to the container 4 times (for just one or two more) and now they're almost gone.
  • Gross random warning, sorry...

One of my cats threw up their food this morning...into the toilet. I don't know whether to be thoroughly impressed or totally weirded out.

  • I brought my thank-you stationary to work to write notes during lunch for Claire's birthday gifts.  I just realized that I left the paper with the list of gifts/givers at home.

And because I'd planned on writing the notes, I didn't bring a book.  :(

  • I had (and WAY needed) coffee this morning. I never have it and am bouncing off the walls. I can not move fast enough to get my work done. I'm waiting on my boss to have out meeting and am worried I'll run out of critical-thinking steam.

I also need to figure out how to make myself a good coffee at home now that I've decided I want it more often if it makes me feel like this. Sbucks is too much $ for as often as I'd like it.

Good for you!! I did too but haven't gone to get new pants since I am hoping to lose more!! Plus it is impossible to try on pants while wearing a baby.
  • We are trying to figure out what to do for our anniversary next month.  We promised each other that we would take a trip for it each year since his work schedule keeps him busy throughout most of the rest of the year.
The past two years we have cruised but we can't afford that this year.
The first year we went to a Bed and Breakfast near Deep Creek Lake in Maryland.
It was nice, but we basically paid as much for that weekend as we paid for an entire week cruising.
We were going to use an extended family members motel room turned condo in Ocean City and do some biking on the boardwalk and enjoy the town practically empty, but something is wrong with the plumbing and we just found out about it.
So now we are at a loss and with very little time and very little money to work with.

I hate to cook.  Haha.  I tried the dance party.  "No no no no".  We finally played with a laundry basket going "weeeee" around the house.  That is way tiring for mommy.

Woo Hoo! How do we find the time! I think I am going to give it a couple more months so I will be a little closer to where I am going to stay (I hope I don't gain it back after breastfeeding...)

I just had a dutch baby pancake with strawberry preserves for breakfast, and now my mouth and lips are burning, and lips itch a bit.  WTF?!  I've had this exact same breakfast numerous times, and that was the last of the preserves.  Which one of those ingredients got pissy on me!?  Grrr.
I don't know what is a dutch baby pancake.
A Dutch baby pancake, sometimes called a German pancake, a Bismarck, or a Dutch puff, is a sweet popover that is normally served for breakfast. It is derived from the German pfannkuchen. It is made with eggs, flour, sugar and milk, and usually seasoned with vanilla and cinnamon, although occasionally fruit or another flavoring is also added. It is baked in a cast iron or metal pan and falls soon after being removed from the oven. It is generally served with fresh squeezed lemon, butter, and powdered sugar, fruit toppings or syrup. A basic batter incorporates 1/3 cup flour and 1/3 cup liquid per egg.

My parents were born there and I have family there, so it will be nice to "discover my roots" (I guess...sounds cheesy).

Hotel rooms in OC are very affordable this time of year.  You'd be a mile or so off the boardwalk but there are several decent hotels (3 stars) in the area with rooms for less than $100 a night.  Some as low as $60. I hope you figure something out!

No.  I totally get it.  We want to do a couple European trips focusing on where our families are from.  Both of our parents were born here but we have family that came over.  His grandparents are from Northern Italy and Germany.  I have family from England, Ireland and Switzerland.

In fact, my brother traced one of our ancestors back to England in the 15th Century.  He was a knight for one of the latter Henrys.  I don't think it was Henry VIII but maybe his father.
