Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges or just for fun?

Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • I am finishing up Winter White by Jenifer Calonita and hope to finish Once Bitten by Trina Lee. They are both okay.
  • I'm reading Exposed by Susan Vaught. It is ok, I'm not loving it but I'm waiting for something big to happen soon.

I'm listening to Fangirl and I'm so in love.

These are #'s 7 and 8 for the year.

  • Hopeless. I'm a little more than halfway done. It's #1 for the year.

I like it, but I'm finding myself skimming some paragraphs (when there's 2 pages describing a kiss).

    Books Read in 2014: 10
  • I started Lethal Rider last night.  I'm only 32 pages in, but that went quick! I have high hopes for it #5

I'm listening to Inferno by Dan Brown.  I'm about halfway through.  It's OK, but I feel like there's a lot of talk going on, but we aren't really discovering anything.  And the things we do discover, seem to be not connected to the problem, so I'm losing interesting. #6

  • Re-read of Dragonfly in Amber.  While I love this book, I can't wait to get through it so I can get to my favorite part in the whole series, which is in Voyager.
    75 Books in 2015?

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I'm working on Sweet Silver Blues by Glen Cook.  He's the author guest for a convention I'm going to in May.  I figured I should read at least one of his books before then.  It's taken a while to get going.  I feel like it's the second book in the series, not the first, and I'm missing some background info.

My Polymind (books, being green, random stuff)
  • I'm in the last hour of listening to the 4th Incorrigible Children book.  I love them.  I am reading Off the Menu, which is a fun chick lit book.
  • I'm doing a re-read of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It's wonderful. I think I'm enjoying the books more this time around than I did the first time because I'm taking my time and not rushing through just to see what happens.
    It's #3 for the year.

  • I'm finishing up The Dressmaker on audio.  I really enjoyed this one.  It's historical fiction taking place around the sinking of the Titanic.

I'm still picking away at The Raven Boys, I just can't get into this one for some reason.

I just started Amy and Roger's Epic Detour.

Numbers 8,9 and 10 for the year.

  • I'm reading BITTER PILL, by Stacey Kate of the "Ghost and the Goth" series. It's really fun so far. I love her style of storytelling.

    I wrote this!
  • Reading A Profound Mind by the Dalai Lama.  I put it down for a few days to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane, but I'm back to this and enjoying it to the extent that I understand it.

Listening to The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms #3) in the car.  It's just as good as the first two.

Listening to Beauty Queens at the gym.  Meh.  I'm not into it, but I'm only about 4 chapters in so I'll continue giving it a chance.  But maybe not at the gym, I ran like crap the days that I was listening to this.

These are numbers 5, 6, and 7 for the year.
  • I am reading The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley (which I am loving!) and Haunted  by Joy Preble.  They are #3 and #4 for the year.

I also got Tell The Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt from the library (#3).  I'm only about 40 pages in so no opinion yet.

  • I'm relistening to Morrigan's Cross.  I'm debating on which audiobook I want to listen to next.  I was thinking that I'd give The Raven Boys another chance and listen to it instead of reading it.  Maybe it would make a difference.  I think I'm going to pick it up for $4.95 since there's a surprise sale on Audible right now.

Fight Club is the daily deal today on Audible if anyone wants it.

I bought Reaver and A Place of Greater Safety by Hilary Mantel on audio.  The second one is about three key players in the French Revolution from the Third Estate.  Danton, Robespierre and Camille Desmoulins.  I can't decide what I want next.

Oh, I'm also rereading Outlander at the moment.  I've put down anything else I was reading.

  • I am reading House of Chains in the Malazan book of the Fallen series. I am about a quarter way into it and so far I like it. I think it is around six for the year.

I believe these are books 7 & 8 for the year.

  • I'm thinking about starting Conspiracy in Death, number whatever'snext in the in Death series. I have time to read tonight and Saturday and Sunday before beginning Horns for my buddy read with Hoycie. But I'm trying to decide if I have as much time as I think I do lol.

I'm reading Hopeless right now as well! I think I read the 2 pages you are referring to last night and loved every word! This is actually the first book in awhile that I haven't fallen asleep reading 2 paragraphs after I pick it up. This is #3 for the year for me.

I felt that way, too. It got better, but I never really liked the MC.

  • I'm reading Lethal Heritage by Michael Stackpole.  I'm reading it as a book my husband loved and read.  It's way outside my genre comfort zone. It's Battletech fiction!  I'm 10 chapters in and still struggling to get into it, but I'm giving it my best try.

I'm also reading Between a Rock and a White Blaze by Julie Urbanski.  It's essentially a trail journal from a woman who thru hiked the Appalachian Trail.  I'm enjoying it so far.

Those are #6 and #7 for the year.

  • I've been having trouble with books because I don't like the narrator.

I started The Rosie Project and it sounds so awful but the narrator has Aspberger's and I don't find it funny at all. It is sooooo annoying. I can't stand Big Bang Theory either, and the guy reminds me of the show. It's a different mindset to learn about the Syndrome and how it impacts people. I'm getting but not getting that here.

The other narrator I sort of dislike is Jordan, from Catching Jordan. I live football but I don't relate to her mentality at all.

I'm finishing Beautiful Ruins on audio today and I've found that I did like it quite a bit. I wasn't sure for a while.

Although it's slow going, I'm thinking that I like American Gods best right now. Have to get back to it.

I need something to get me out of this slump!

  • Reading Seige and Storm and listening to The Dream Thieves.  I love both of them so far.  BUT WHY do I continue to start series that aren't finished yet?  The waiting kills me.
